Topic: Joe’s Blues Invasion of Johio!! Columbus, Canton, and Kettering, Johi

Hi all-

Getting pumped up to witness another Johio invasion (sorry Roy) of the best blues guitarist in the world.  The whole family is very exited to get on the road to see the band.  Nico, at this time, is tuning up his guitar, getting his picks in order, and he’s ready to rock.  We can’t wait to see some friends and make some new Bonamassa buddies.

Take care and we will see you real soon-

Hi Roy-

Thanks for the kind words for me and my family.  I never forget a good friend and I did send you an e-mail this morning.  Did you get it?

Dean

PS I do like your new home town on the forum.  "Me No money Falls, Wisconsin."  I think this sounds much better for you. "Me No Joe Shows Falls, Wisconsin" LOL

I will be on my way to Johio tomorrow afternoon. Be on the look out and move out of my way if you see a little yellow car with black stripes, sort of looks like a bumble bee....... (my daughters car, I will be driving due to the price of gas!) headed east to Johio! smile smile

My camera was very excited when I told it earlier today that we have a road trip tomorrow! Weeeeeeeeeeeee! smile

I just posted a thread about this in the general topics section but I'm on the phone with Libby, listening to Asking Around For You, live from Columbus Johio, as I 'speak'.

Re: Joe’s Blues Invasion of Johio!! Columbus, Canton, and Kettering, Johi

I had the pleasant surprise when I left a blues jam this evening of checking my voice mail and hearing about 3-4 mins of the tail end of the Just Got Paid/Dazed and Confused medley, courtesy of the lovely Libby.  Thanks, hon! :-)

I'd best watch my manners and add my thanks to Libby for my call. I think it sounded remarkable clear considering the circumstances.I would have listened longer but my battery died....leaves red in the face.    Now party on Birthday Girls!!!       Cathy

One of the pitfalls of this sort of forum and fandom in general is "groupthink".
It is good to hear all opinions.
That said - I don't think Joe bases his musical growth on what others think.  His seems to follow his own instincts - and thay are very good.  With that comes growth and change over time.  I kind of agree that I enjoyed some kickass jams with Mark and bogie a few years ago a bit more than the more polished shows now.  BUT, I am there to see and enjoy where Joe takes his music.  I feel he has extrordianry talent - not just his technical guitar playing, but his musical and emotional sensibility.  So I go to each show to see and to enjoy what he is doing now.
I have not been dissapointed or underwhelmed.

One of the bonavirgins I took to the birchmere show, is a fairly accomplished musician, who has performed quite a bit.  He was honest enough to have a few critiques - about emphasis, and mix.  He could see room for improvement.  But his bottom line was that it was some of the finest musicianship he has ever seen.  To me - not being perfect, and not being the same as he was 4 yerars ago are not negatives.  They are to be expected.

I know what you are saying RedingtonB

You probably have his masterpieces ANDY, SILT, BD, and HTCT.

Have to tell you Joe has changed. It's going to be this way.  Maybe you will get use to this Red, he's going in a different direction now.

I put on something you probably don't know about either.  From one old fan to another, this is Eric's new direction.
Hope you get to see these, just to see if you might like it or not.  Just so you know.

I have found that I am most critical of the extremities of musicianship...I am harsh on the pseudo-talents and picayune about the top musicians.  Since it is playing with amplification & electrons, "The Mix" is ALWAYS some thing to possibly knock a small combo or ensemble performance down a few or several severe notches, whether with or without their control and / or knowledge...It is a bane to me and, I am sure, to the performers especially.  However, the great ones make the best of it, usually still sounding GREAT, and press on. As blue heron says Onward!

Thanks for the setlist Dean!

Re: Joe’s Blues Invasion of Johio!! Columbus, Canton, and Kettering, Johi

Rocket you have been around the bonafamily for awhile only one around here longer might be John from Caz.
You guys have seen Joe evolve and have been loyal fans.

Just wondering aloud about the few negative posts from Ohio. As you remeber Ohio was a hotbed for fans several years ago and he must of went through there 4 times a year for awhile. There were many active forum regulars posting here. I would say that Ohio had the largest fanbase of that era of Kenny and Eric only stands to reason some of those people haven't embraced the new direction.

Now Joe has developed a following worldwide. We always knew he wouldn't be playing small clubs much longer. I can understand people prefering the more edgy version of Joe. The more intimate venues and access to the band. Not sure what people expect him to do. Everything stagnates if it doesn't keep moving. Things have been moving for some time now some people are just now figuring it out.

For those people just discovering Joe without preconceived notions about what he should be doing or playing sure seem to like the direction.
