Topic: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

Hello people:)

My guitar had some problems so I had to leave it in at a guitar repair something and I havnt been able to play it for 2 whole days, I cant stand it!!! sad

The thing is that if i bended the bright E string at like the 15th fret it wouldnt give a tone. at the beginning it would but when I bend it like one fret up it just "gave up". It got quite annoying when Im like soloing in E at the 12th position and when your trying to bend some it just didnt give a tone. I first tried to uhm..what is it called....raise? the strings, i eventually managed to bend and still keep the tone but now the strings where so high that it was really hard to play, it was like a "slide guitar" setup. I finally noticed that it could be the
frets cus I saw that when I bended the string it went on a fret. Guess that was the problem. So now its in for repair.

So anyway, I have to wait maximum 8 more days...but its quite annoying sad Hope this dosnt happen to you cause it aint fun ! sad

Sorry for my bad english!
Rock on !//Simon

Hi Simon,
Sorry to hear about your guitar trouble. Listen, when you go to pick up your strat from your tech-make sure your happy with the job he's done. Plug it in and play it, make sure the problem is fixed right there. Remember he works for you! Your the boss.

Have more guitars. This is my only advice. I know, not good, but it really helps when I have to take one for a repair or something like that to have a couple more that I can play.

Re: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

this really sucked.

I got an SMS from the store where my guitar is being fixed ,and it said "You're guitar is done, you can come here and get it anytime". of course i went in there immideatley. its about a 1 hour trip so it takes some time to get there.

when i get there I ask for my guitar and a guy who works at the store gets the guitar.
I was so smart so i tried it out and the problem was STILL THERE.

I told him and he said "ow...When our "repair guys" gets here on monday, I'll tell them to fix it immideatley.

I think its quite wierd how they could not notice it. when a guy who works in another store with but still the same company said that they would notice it immideatley. Anway..on monday Ill have it big_smile

Re: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

Hey simon,

Glad you checked out your axe before you got it home. Did those guys give it a level and polish? Thats what I thought you were getting done. Costs about $130 U.S. here in the states.

Let us know whats happening

Re: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

If you can't get rid of the problem you might have to spring for a refret. He**, while you're at it get a new nut too! Couldn't hurt eh?

Re: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

They said they were going to do something with the frets (i know what they are going to do but i dont know how to say it in english:P). Atleast they will do it for free big_smile

Re: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

Ha, free is always good! I don't imagine it was anything other than a fret cleaning if they're doing it for free. Total refrets cost a good bit of money.

Re: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

Its a garanty (do you spell it like that?) thing, so they have to do it for free...
If this swedish-english book that i have in my hand is correct, then they are probably "grinding" (sounds really wrong) some frets.

English isnt my best thing big_smile

Simon

Re: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

Grinding, filing, dressing, all the same thing eh? Don't worry about the not-perfect English, I don't speak a lick of Swedish anyway!

Re: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

Are those same things!? why didnt someone tell me that earlier. Dressing to me sounds like you replace all frets. Filing sounds like you add something to the frets (dunno why you should add something to the frets...but thats what it sounds like) ^^

Atleast i got an excuse for my english, sweedes are dumb big_smile

Re: AHHH CANT STAND IT!!!!!

Basically it means there gonna relevel your frets, when you use your guitar the frets wear down, after a while they become unlevel at certain points on the guitar, causing dead spots or buzzing. So they should be filing (grinding the frets down) to the same level.

My strats starting to get dead spots, but whilst Im skint I just decided to play stuff a bit lower down on the neck tis good practise anyhow tongue

If they were saying they intended to perform a re-crowning of the frets, and the problem is still there, it doesn't fill me with confidence.

Any decent luthier or guitar repairer/technician would/should check the guitar on all strings in different fret positions before it leaves the shop....an upper register string choking on a bend is an extremely common problem. I dunno how they could have missed it....especially after having it for so long.

Is there anywhere else you can take it?
