Topic: Sunrises on Joe & BB

Great show last night...an abbreviated show for Joe (45 minutes) as he opened for BB.
Walk in My Shadow
So Many Roads
Mountain Time
Another Kind of Love
Sloe GIn
Woke Up Dreaming

Joe was great as usual. Lots of Joe fans there, but being a BB show, there were also many people who never heard of Joe. We talked to people around us, handed out JB cards and tried to let everyone know what they were in store for.
The guys behind us were star struck after Joe got done. They told us that Joe not only lived up to our hype, but exceeded it. I think it was great that Joe broke Woke Up Dreaming out of the vault: That song really displays Joe's talents, maybe more than any other song. I could hear people talking and there was a general buzz in the theater as Joe played his acoustic. He definitely made some new fans. I checked out the merchandise table and CD's, DVD's and t-shirts were moving...many to people who were obviously new fans.
Joe had one glitch during Sloe Gin. Guitar feedback pierced the theater for a good 10 seconds, Joe stopped until it was taken care of and then got some laughs as he shrugged his shoulders, smiled and said "What can you do", or something to that affect. After the song, he went to the mike and thanked "The National weather service early warning system". That broke everyone up.

BB was outstanding. The thing that really struck me is what a great voice he has for an 82 year old man.

Well, I have a flight to catch...possibly more later.

Re: Sunrises on Joe & BB

Hey Bill,
I just talked to my friend Dorinda who were also at the Sunrise show, as well as the Jacksonville show.  She said she thought Joe toned down all the songs (except Woke Up Dreamin) compared to the Jacksonville show.  Probably out of respect for B.B. King.  But, she said he killed it with 'Woke Up Dreamin'.  She thought that song was better than the Jacksonville show.   She and her husband have seen B.B. King many times, but thought that was the best show they had ever seen him perform.

So glad you had fun.  Thanks for posting a review of the show. Carmine told us Friday night they would be playing a short set at the Sunrise show.  But, I say that any Joe show is better than no Joe show.

Told ya so Bill!!!  Amen Brother!!!  Thanks for the review.  Glad you were able to see the show and had such a great time.

I certainly agree with Susan, that a Joe show, of any length, is better than no Joe.

Also, the first time we saw Joe, it was because we went to see B.B.  We, like the audience members you saw, had NO IDEA of the BONUS ROUND we were about to be given.  I am forever indebted to B.B. for his gift to us that night - one great big beautifully packaged steamin' hot Joe Bonamassa!!!

And Bill, when we saw B.B. again, in January, I was struck by the same thing - the QUALITY AND POWER OF HIS 82 YEAR OLD VOICE.  And, then, of course, his GRATITUDE to his fans -it always warms my heart.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-
