Topic: Nils Lofgren

I've always loved his playing going back to the first Grin album. This is one hell of a fine and possibly under-related guitarist, who put his own career on the back burner to become Bruce's main man. I started watching and downloading some of his songs tonight, nothing smacked my gob more than this amazing display!

Re: Nils Lofgren

Nils is one of my favorites. I wish he'd get more serious about his own career. I went to see Bruce last Nov. only because Nils was in the band. He does sneak out when Bruce is idle, unfortunately the last time he hit SF it was on a work night and wasn't do-able for me. Next time he does I don't care what night it is, I'll make it do-able.

Re: Nils Lofgren

Nils has been my favorite since the mid-70's. I have all ther Grin and his solo releases on vinyl ( yes vinyl ) and CD.  I also have lots of live shows from almost every stage of his career. My favorite showe is a live studio interview and performance he did in New York in 2002. It's a 3 hour show and Nils talks about playing with Neil Young, Bruce Sringsteen, Ringo Starr and how Grin opened for Jimi Hendrix. Finaaly saw Nils live in 2002 and he atuographed my copy of the Authorized Bootleg LP and his first solo LP.
My first dance at my wedding with my wife was to "Shine Silently". That will be 20 years ago this November and we are still together.

Re: Nils Lofgren

George I agree he  really is underrated.

I bought his LP's   Nils Lofgren and Cry Tough in the seventies when they were just released. A friend was a huge fan of Grin so that's when I first heard of Nils.
Saw him  live twice after that with his own band, not with Bruce.
In Vredenburg Utrecht he played a sold out show, must be in the eighties, last time was 10 years ago in a bluesclub (400 people )called De Pan in Silvolde, it closed 3 years ago very sad.
Nice club; Nils Lofgren, Pat Travers have some private recordings from that show!, Rick Derringer, Jan Akkerman, Mother Finest played there.

In Utrecht Nils did his famous salto while playing the guitar, in Silvolde not anymore, everyone gets older but not his music.

Thanks for reminding me again george, will check him out again.
