Topic: Ansley Lister and Eric Sardnias in Roth

Hey everybody,

You must get a little tired from reading my reviews by now as it´s the third one within a week ... but what can I do when all the good people decide to come to town withing one week?! Well, Berlin wasn´t quite "to town", but anyway - Joe doesn´t count ... wink

I saw a double concert at the "Rother Bluestage" yesterday (this is the event where I first saw Joe) - first show was Ansley Lister and Band and second Eric Sardinas and Big Motor.
I had listened to Ansley´s new record before and didn´t like it too much ... thought he was a bit too much "singer/songwriter" for me. But he did very well when I saw him play live yesterday - the first few songs didn´t blow me off my chair really, but in the end he played a beautiful and very soulful version of "Purple Rain" with a fantastic guitar solo, followed by a pretty cool Slide-tune ... the crowd loved him (I think it must have been around 400 people) and so it was a very good atmosphere durning the last 5 tracks, the Band looked like they really enjoyed playing.
I took a few pictures with my cheap camera, so don´t expect good quality smile  - I think that Cathy once said she likes him a lot?! So if I remember that correctly then these are for you, Cathy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25162871@N … 328389797/
On the last picture you can see that his bassplayer is a girl - all the guys apllauded and whistled like crazy for her ... wink

Second show was Eric Sardinas and Big Motor - and if you have read Roy´s review, then I don´t have much to add to that ... they are an absolutely mind-blowing band full of energy ... the guys NEVER stood still, which made it pretty hard to get a picture. But believe it or not - I managed (after 300 attempts...) to take a picture in which Eric doesn´t move AT ALL: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25162871@N … 328389797/ . Yes, I´m proud lol
Eric also played a great acoustic version of "Hellhound on my trail", I think I liked that one best ... but it´s hard to say, really - so many good songs! So if these three wild guys ever come your way, go and see them - it´s more than worth it!
They played and played and played ... seemed like they never get tired.

So it was another perfect concert evening, even though the two bands would have sounded even better if I hadn´t seen Joe and the guys only a few days ago - who can compete with the Gods of Bluesrock?! wink
My mum raised her eyebrows before my dad and me drove to the concert ... "So you´re going to see ANOTHER show? Haven´t you got enough by now? You are freaks ..." - I guess she thinks that 3 concerts a year are already much ... lol

O.k., now I promise to write no more reviews until April 30 - gonna see Bryan Lee then ..... smile

Eva

P.S.: Libby, also took a picture for you: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25162871@N … 328389797/ - creepy, huh?

Eva - so glad you liked Eric - as you probably know we just saw him with Roy
at Shank Hall  - we bought his new CD and I love it!  We waited awhile after
for him to come out but had to leave as we had a long ride home.
Please give us a review on Bryan Lee - he is from my hometown and plays
here alot.  He is not heavy blues but good dancing music - let me know how
you like him!
