Topic: Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues Vol:1

Hey all,

I have this series all qued up in my Netflix que... I'm hoping that it will be worth it.
I've been told that the first one is VERY boring and it goes on and on...

I do however own the one about british blues - stars and strips or something likt that.
my computer is freaking out right now, so I gotta end this entry.!

Re: Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues Vol:1

Nick the British Blues episode was my favorite by far. I found a new respect for Tom Jones when I heard him belt out the blues with Jeff Beck. Now you got me fired up to watch it again, off to netflix, thanks dude.

I love the Soul Of A Man film, that featured the story of Skip James as a major part.

How funny this thread's been started now. I was gonna ask about it myself. I have seen the box-set on sale near me a couple of times, but was gonna ask for some more educated opinions before I bought it.

So - I watched half of it last night, and basically Keb Mo and Corey Harris. Pretty interesting so far. I didnn't know about a lot of  the  "I played with Robert Johnson " people out there...
I never crossed Son House with anybody either. or Ledbelly for that matter...Just never knew their paths ccrossed.

So is Johnny Lee Hooker considered Detroit or Mississippi Delta?  Feel free to chime in there...

I was disappointed by the British blues episode. Other than a brief clip of Muddy Waters with the Rolling Stones I found there was little of relevance. There was shots of Tom Jones clearly listening to the likes of Keb Mo for the first time, nothing he or the likes of Lulu have done to suggest they love blues music.
I'd been hoping for more on the likes of Rolling Stones, John Mayall, Peter Green, Clapton, Animals etc. Not just whoever was free on the day of filming
