Topic: Back Door Slam Slams Chicago

First, let me say that the "buzz" surrounding these 3 young men is well warranted!
They were definitely well received here in Chicago.
They opened with Outside Women Blues, which grabbed everybody's attention right from the start.
By memory, the rest of the setlist went something like this:
Heavy on my mind
Gotta Leave
Almost Cut my Hair
Too Good for Me (acoustic)
What in the World (actually, Willie Dixon wrote this one, although Rory covered it)
Come Home (boy, they really looked like they were having fun with this one)
Back Door Slam (yes, we were treated to the Robert Cray song that spawned their name!)
Tear down the Wall (I'm pretty sure that's the name...they said they were "testing" this out. Never been recorded and I think it may have been the first time they've played it at a show).

I think I'm missing another song (or two). It was a short set, about 1 hour/15 or 20 minutes. I am not complaining at all. What they played was definitely high energy and there was not a bad song in the set. And Davey, well that kid can flat out PLAY!
The thing that stuck out for me was how much fun they seemed to be having...they had that look at times like they couldn't believe what was happening to them...they're "living the dream" and it showed.
Davey grinned and said thank you after every round of applause, which happened frequently. He thanked everyone for coming out and said how special it was to come to Chicago and to play in front of a sold out house...and you could tell that all three of them were glad to be there.
Unfortunately, being Sunday night, I didn't get to stick around and meet the band. I had 3 other people with me that wanted to get home. There will definitely be other shows in the future.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Libby,
I did indeed get your e-mail. Unfortunately, I didn't get to stick around to meet the band. I had 3 people with me that were anxious to head home. I will say that Davey must have drank 4 or 5 cups of tea during the show.
The place was still pretty crowded when I left. I did stop on the way out and bought a t-shirt.

Cathy,
I was beat this morning and never made it to the AM show. I found out there were a few other groups appearing along with BDS. I think I'll go to WXRT's site and see if there's anything posted.
By the way, BDS's appearance was no help...the Cubs fell 4-3 to the Brewers.
