Topic: opening song

hi everyone what would you say is your favourite opening at a gig you have been to, it can be either the intro or the first song two of my favourites are;
           ecstacy of gold(from good the bad and the ugly soundtrack)   
           metallica used to use it as their intro
           queen tie your mother down,what a song to open with,
           really gets your heart beating,baby

It's very far away
It take's about a half and a day to get there
If we travel by my uh, dragon fly

Thinking about this brings back some fun memories...the buzz that's in the air in a big arena before a show starts. Recorded music being pumped through the sound system, and the anticipation that comes as each song ends...everyone wondering if the lights are about to dim, or if another song is going to played through the PA. Hearing the crowd starting to cheer as each song ends, and then tapering off as another song starts. The guitar techs and roadies making last minute checks...fun stuff.

Back in Lynyrd Skynyrd's heyday you knew it was time to rock when The William Tell Oveture played as the Confederate flag unfurled. Nowadays when you hear Dixie play you know they're ready.

By far B.B. King. The band hits, and you're wondering where he is, and then boom out he walks. Royalty at its finest.

Joe's was pretty good with Takin' The Hit, haven't seen the intro with Bridge. ZZ Top's intro is always hardcore with Got Me Under Pressure. Buddy just walked onstage a wailing. Robert Randolph's was just a straight 10 minute jam, by the end of it I was spent. And they were bouncing everywhere.
