Re: eric czar fans

Thanks Suhl,

That's the bass solo from Don't Burn Down the Bridge off of the ANDY DVD.  That is FREAKIN AWESOME.
He is FREAKIN AWESOME. He tore it up on that song.  I can't wait until he puts out a CD or better yet for me A DVD.
He did a song called Bass Waltz that I so hope he records and puts out.

Re: eric czar fans

ooooooooh my favorite has posted a new video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3H-2OqV8cQ
I really love the part at 2:29  What a great name for a piece and it is a full piece according to the text

"Solitude"
That title is what I think of when I see him in the videos.

What a great way to start the 4th of July weekend.  He's got every single firework in those fingers and in that mind.  True inspiration and True artistry.

I hope one day he may be on stage with Les Claypool and me and my husband wouldhave the honor of seeing them together.  It's just an honor seeing Eric, but I would love to see their musical interaction and pure Bass Bliss big_smile

Re: eric czar fans

i have seen both les claypool and victor wooten live.  Also jeff's beck's phenomenal young bass player.  all impressed the hell out of me.  eric czar has impressed me more in video.  in my opinion he is in a class by himself.

Re: eric czar fans

Very impessive.  It's like a modified Chapman Stick.  Bob Culbertson?  While I admire his musicality and dexterity, some part of me (old school RnB bassman, I guess) wonders why the bass?

When I want to play or compose movements or songs I do it on piano or "gasp" guitar.  Maybe just me and my training and musical tastes...

On the other hand, why not the bass?  roll what do I know?  big_smile

Very impressive.

Re: eric czar fans

One reason why Eric is my favorite is because he is an experimenter.  He plays the piano, different types of Bass and other instruments as well.  It would be interesting to see if he picked up the stick as well.   I love him as a BassMan.  A Badazz Bassman at that.  He is all realms on the Bass.

I would love to see an interview done with Eric Czar to get some understanding of his musical process that he goes through.  Being a Cat, I have a lot of curiosity about Eric and what he would like to achieve through his music, his inspiration, his motivation, his thought process, his technical prowess, just a whole lot of questions and anything he would like to offer.

Also what kind of question would you like to ask Eric about his music?  I'd like to see other people's questions as well, like BJJ's question.

Please put any information you know about Eric on this string, as I for one would like to know what he is up to.

Thanks a whole lot.

Eric and Kenny are kicking around the idea of playing together again, possibly a blues-rock deal. If they do, Eric's thinking about playing some of his 7-string solo stuff between sets. Nothing firm, it's still in the talking stage...but it sure would be great to see them performing again.

Re: eric czar fans

I got the chance to see John Paul Jones open for King Crimson and man does that guy has some wild looking basses and other otherworldly stringed instruments.

Awestruck

Re: eric czar fans

I have talked to Eric many times Cat and I don't recall him ever talking about music and inspiration  approach or in particular his art which is pretty cool.

He is strongly opinionated on a variety of subjects but as far as music goes he really just plays and lets his finger do the talking.

It's in the works. Eric was not keen on the idea for a long time, but recently consented to doing an interview for the BS Blog. I hope to get started on it soon.
