Re: First song you played on a guitar

Boy, that goes back some.  Chording the old CCR tunes, some John Sebastian (Younger Girl), and do you old folks remember when "Are You Experienced" came out.  That album had all us kids working on manic depression.

What's funny is that I enjoy playing more today than I ever did as a kid.

ON AN BASS?

My Favorite Mistake by Sheryl Crow.

(that was the part of the gig where the bass player & I switch instruments and a chick sings comes onstage to sing one song)

Re: First song you played on a guitar

Very first song on acoustic; Michael Row the Boat Ashore..

Electric; Harlequin, Thinking of You.  Then a steady diet of Iron Maiden, Headpins and Judas Priest.  Don't know how I turned out to be such a blues fan..

Re: First song you played on a guitar

Acoustic: Fire & Rain
Electric: Hey Hey My My (with lots of distortion to cover up my mistakes)

Re: First song you played on a guitar

Black Star by Yngwie Malmsteen...I was a very quick learner...only kidding.

I'm pretty sure it was either Cat Scratch Fever or Smoke on the Water, and maybe only on 1 string!

Re: First song you played on a guitar

Smoke On The Water for me. It was my big brother's guitar that my dad had brought home for him. When he put it down and went out I picked it up and played the first three notes of that riff and have been hooked ever since.

Electric : Smoke on the Water

and I am really the first to post

Acoustic : Stairway to Heaven  ( was actually the easy version, but still )

Re: First song you played on a guitar

First song was 'Rocky Racoon' by the Beatles on my russian 3/4 guitar ; within a year or so though I was up to 'Whisky in the Jar' by Thin Lizzy on my '72 Strat - including (most of) the solo- which I still can play - sort of... funny how you make big progress initially then it kinda levels out - listening to my old tapes now 30 years later made me realise I had my basic tone & vibrato all sorted out.  Progress since has been incremental- or should that read 'mental' ;-)

Cheers! Mitch.

This don't look like no express way to me...

Re: First song you played on a guitar

I think(it was a while ago) It was My sweet Lord George Harrison on acoustic, electric was probably summat by Status Quo or the obligatory Smoke on the Water.

Re: First song you played on a guitar

Re: First song you played on a guitar

The first song I learned on the electric guitar was Master of Sparks by ZZ Top. Shortly after that, I got a great deal on an electric bass, and more than 5 but less than 50 years later, the most recent song I've learned on the 5 string bass is Takin' The Hit.

Damn, Eric Czar is a monster!!

On acoustic guitar the most recent is I Found Love, When I Found You by Kenny Wayne Shepherd
