Topic: Tivoli-Utrecht

After checking out Utrecht. Again in the rain.Really hate this dutch climate.
We first looked where the venue was and after that we had a nice meal in a little place where they served great food.We have to take care of ourselves and have some decents meals when we're travelling around our little country ourselves .
Doors went open around 19.30. Crosby started (i guess) around h20. Really loved his sound, great voice!
Joe himselve started around 20.30.
Again a briliant show last night.Even better than the night before.
Newcommer on the setlist: `Your funural` was great.Somebody posted a video from it on Youtube as i saw in an other topic.
Venue a bit smaller than the night before, but the crowd was awesome.
They all loved it and again sold out! Way to go Mr.Popartist! wink
There was a little change in the order of the setlist compare to the gig in Eindhoven.
Again, just outta bed. Don't need a lot of sleep I guess.
Sound was perfect and so was the band. Played really tight and again on fire.Really enjoyed last night again.Made some pics last night but will post them after the other gigs were going to see this week.
Have a great night in Groningen, for those how will go there!(think  that all the dutch shows were sold out wink )
Today,a day off, time to take some rest for me and my buddy Annelies.
But tomorrow a new day!

Re: Tivoli-Utrecht

Yet another great review Marianne.  Isn't it great to see Your Funeral in the setlist (keeping my fingers crossed).  You obviously don't need much sleep because the power of Joe is keeping you going but enjoy your day of rest and give a hug to Annelies from me.

Re: Tivoli-Utrecht

Thanks for the review, Marianne!

I wish I could have been there with you all, we had such a great time at Paradiso last October ... but as Joe comes to Germany this time, I can´t travel to Holland too ... wink

Waiting for more reviews and some great pictures of course! smile

Re: Tivoli-Utrecht

Re: Tivoli-Utrecht

Hello Marianne, Annelies and all others

I was with a friend in Tivoli too, just next to the PA controls, figure the best sound should be there. And it was. I found the show a little better than Paradiso, don't know exactly why, but there was more speed in the setlist and a little less technical solo-ing. Loved the jazzy sound of Don't burn down that bridge. Joe makes all time guitar greats songs (John Mayall, Alvin Lee, Billy Gibbons, Rory) his own, but even alters his own recordings to musical beauties.  The whole Sloe Gin album sounds so much better live. ANDY was great to hear, the transfer to Starship Trooper well performed (right at he line: It's an old day now). Two encores, Bogy nearly missing the really high thrown drumstick, Rick at his best with a lot of space to play and Carmine swinging and cool. GREAT SHOW guys.

Audience was great, lots of new fans, I counted another 2 vintage Est. 1977 T-shirts next to mine, we found each other quick. We all go back to Duiven 2002.

Meiden: lots of fun in the remaining Dutch shows.

Eric

Re: Tivoli-Utrecht

I was there too in Duiven but that was November 2004, bought on old Joe shirt there as well. Always carry it at Joe shows.
I thought the 2004 tour was his first in Holland or am I wrong?

Yes George, see you at the MIMI TOUR! lol

Here´s another question for all of you who saw the recent shows and maybe talked to Joe: Is he feeling better now or is he still sick?
And what about Crosby?
Hope they´re both feeling better now ... smile

Hi Andre

You are right, Duiven must have been 2004, I linked my memory to the wrong year. This was the first in the row, Koninginnenach, Noot, Zoetermeer, Paradiso twice, Tegelen, name them. Time flies when you're having fun. Will you attend one of the Dutch shows? Let us know your experience.

Re: Tivoli-Utrecht

Dear Marianne,

Thanks to an old friend who was so kind to get us tickets I was able to visit the Utrecht Tivoli gig. It was fantastic, Joe is a master of blues but doesn't hesitate to cover really good songs from Yes and Jethro Tull in his own way. Is there any chance of finding the Tivoli setlist on the internet ??
