First thing I thought of Stu when I saw Eva's photo... smile http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ … GgodxSe29g

Thanks Eva for the photos, you live in a very beautiful country!  At Disney World in Florida, USA they have a section called Epcot representing several countries and I always enjoy visiting & eating in "Germany", they have a buffet so tourists can sample many fine German dishes.  http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/pa … amp;bhcp=1

Roy-I am very much looking forward to meeting you and your better half, Dawn. big_smile My hubby has elderly parents and is in a constant "On Call"  state of mind, so that's why I may have to come without him.

Roy, You're going to get locked out of posting with that video and you have WAY TOO MUCH time on your hands...please, I like a man that leaves something up to my imagination...

Eva, You're funny and I'm really looking forward to meeting up with you in London...It's a Truce and Your Secret's Safe With Me, I won't tell the newer forum members how and why you bribe your boyfriend with chocolate...;)

Where do you live in Germany, near the Rhine River by any chance...that looks so beautiful...and I love the photos with all the houses with pretty flowers in the window boxes?  And a small world story, the couple from Germany Right Next Door, are from the same area in Germany but actually met in the states at the Jersey shore (beaches by the Atlantic)...geez, Eva since you are the official Chairlady, do you think Jeurgen was wearing the speedo when they met????  lol

Angela, I also look forward to meeting you - we can sing some Beatles songs together smile. Well, maybe some of Joe´s too ....

I´m living in Bavaria - where the people look like most Americans imagine Germans to look: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1432/146 … 4c314b.jpg . So I´m not living near the Rhine, but still Bavaria is one of the nicest parts of Germany ! Of course I´m saying that, because it´s my home, but have a look: http://www.ixwin.de/bilder/bilder_fotos/bayern.jpg smile
Ah yes, and we have those houses with the flowers in the boxes too ....

I think that Speedo thing will follow us FOREVER! And Roy will post the link to the horrible video EVERY TIME he answers one of our posts ......
Oh, what a nightmare!

Hope you can look at your neighbour again someday,    Eva

I look at a little picture of Nurnberg on a little beer stein every time I sit down at my computer thanks to a liebchen fraulien I know. Ukraine girls may knock you out, but I cast my vote for Bavarian frauliens any day.

Well Jeff I say "close enough".  While I stayed in Salzburg, Austria (Sound of Music film setting), the Bavarian influence was highly prevalent.  Angela the Alps and meadows there looked pretty much the same. They had Bavarian pastries in the restaurants. And let me tell you those Bavarian baked goods and pastries are out of this world

Sorry Rocket, I've got to take exception here. I grew up in Austria, so I know whereof I speak. There is no Bavarian influence in Salzburg, and there are no Bavarian pastries there.

Salzburg is strictly AUSTRIAN, as are the food and the pastries there.

Bavaria is Germany and Austria is Austria, and 'we' tend to like it like that.

(No offense intended Eva, as I'm sure you realize.) *wink*

Re: Official announcement

George..They sell pastries here called Bavarian..when they have a cream filling..Must be like the Maryland cookies Michael has that have nothing to do with Maryland!..Isn't the Black Forest in that area..Home of the Coo-coo clocks?      Roy..That's a very funny visual and believable!!  But, Don't think I'm not aware of how you Dirty Old Men are circling Eva..You are all too funny!!!       As for the lessons..I've talked to Michael and to George and you both say "yea?" at the end of sentences..Is it like "right?"....Is that common?? Point of order!

This dirty old man is not circling Eva. He's circling elsewhere, yeah.

They sell a disgustingly rich sort of pudding thingy here called 'Bavarois', but that doesn't mean it comes from Bavaria. I took Rocket to mean that he had pastries in Salzburg that he identified as being from Bavaria or Bavarian style cuisine, yeah. Rather than a certain specific type of thing actually called 'Bavarian'. I can tell you for a fact that they don't sell anything called 'Bavarian' in Vienna, yeah. Whether they do so in Salzburg I'll have to leave open, but I very much doubt it.

Well Cathy, in my experience 'yeah' is often accompanied by 'right', and meant to be taken sarcastically when used together, yeah.

I'm sorry, Admiral, I couldn't resist. big_smile

OMG Roy and George!! I have spoken to both of you and the way you each wrote your comments IS how you sound! Too funny..And George I'll be Admiral..it's a desirable thing but I will not be Rear Admiral..I have standards!  Cathy

Re: Official announcement

Eva I just realized after Cathy's comment about the cuckoo clock that I have a touch of Germany in my kitchen with my cuckoo clock.  My mother-in-law's brother sent it to her as a present when he was stationed in Germany during WWII.  He met and married a German woman, Elsie and her entire family followed her here to New Jersey. My mother-in-law never hung up the clock and was cleaning out her basement and asked if we wanted it.  My friend Tina's husband, who is of German descent, runs his own business restoring antique cars and clocks, he checked it out and balanced it on my wall to keep proper time, etc.  Any newcomer to my kitchen comments on how fast the bird comes out of his house on the half hour and hour...its like he's been drinking high octane espresso all day...he's so fast he's almost a blur...

How do you spell it cuckoo...or coo-coo?

I was Rear Admiral just once, but that was during an overnighter in County lockup. Can't say I liked it much. Always best to be Top Dog.
