Topic: Clouds on the horizon

Hey Bonabuddies,

Just wanted to tell you a funny story - I woke up this morning because of a nightmare (how much more "Blues" can it get?!)... and guess what the nightmare was?! I "woke up dreaming" I missed the Joe show in Munich, because I just can´t´find the venue - I have to climb over rotten rooftops and find my way though the jungle (in Munich!), but in the end I just come too late and the show is already over. What a nightmare!!

Luckily I´m at home and my dad is awake (not too unusal when it´s 11 am wink) - and he found the right thing to let me forget the horible nightmare ... he pulls out a Walter Trout CD he bought a few days ago and puts it in the CD player. And whom do I hear on this CD?! Give you a hint: You recognize his playing from the first note on ..... of course it´s the wonderful, the unbelievable ...... Joe!

I guess most of you already know the song "Clouds on the horizon" from Walter Trout´s album "full circle", but to anyone who doesn´t know it yet - go out and buy it! smile
Walter says in the liner notes that the two of them played the song one time with no rehersal and that Joe "is destinied for big things" .... nice said Mr. Trout!

I´m listening to the whole CD while I write this and it´s really good (featuring John Mayall, Eric Sardinas, Coco Montoya and many others) ... but there´s nothing better than hearing a new Joe-song when you thought yo just know them all! Thanks dad! wink

No more nightmares,   Eva

Re: Clouds on the horizon

Hi Eva...yeah that entire cd is great....Walters got some wicked friends for sure...I thought I read somewhere (liner notes?) that the entire album was done without a rehearsal

Re: Clouds on the horizon

The song with Joe "Clouds on the Horizon' is by far the best song. I have the CD too.Second best: She takes more than she gives with John Mayall (gonna see him July 4th in Hellendoorn.

I liked Walter Trout in the beginning more than the last 10 years.

I saw him the first time in a little village called Neede in 1991 in the venue Luxor  which doesn't exist for years anymore.
He just left John Mayall and the Bluesbrakers and it was one of his first solo tours. Bought his first CD out in Europe " Life in the Jungle' from 1990 which was recorded at a little bluesfestival in Denmark. Very good CD.
I bought more a few after, but just more of the same and his voice and his ultrafast playing bores me after a while.
Because I like live CD's the most and because of the good reviews it got I bought -Live Trout from the Tampa Bay Blues Fetival March 2000 but The Cd -Life in the Jungle- is by far his best I think.

Second time I saw him he played in a much bigger venue in Nijmegen, very hard and loud and guess what: I left before the show ended. Boring!
Don't have to see him again, though he is a fabulous guitarist, no doubt about that.

Joe is a more sensible player, he varies more, a much better tone and a better singer!

Re: Clouds on the horizon

I looove that song! I would like to see more collaborations with Joe like Jeff Healey, Warren Haynes, etc because when Joe is challenged he really shines.

Re: Clouds on the horizon

I agree, i think Full Circle could well be my favourite Walter Trout album. Aswell as Clouds on the Horizon, gotta love Firhouse Mama and Slap Happy.

Re: Clouds on the horizon

"A Busy Man" was the reason I was given a guitar....The repeated lick with the bend..LOVE IT....Walter Trout has many friends and fans on this site. I am in the ranks of those that love him! Don't tell him he's too loud, 'cause he'll turn it up! He's a really nice family man who takes the time for his fans. He and Joe both fight the Blues/Rock War. I know the song with Joe was 1 take and I think others were also. I like that Walter's guitar always comes from 1 track and the guest from the other..helps me know who I'm hearing. Add my name to the list of those that would like more Joe collaborations.     Cathy
