From the moment he stepped of the bus he did nothing but chew my **** and everyone else connected with the show.Yes it was hot and he did nothing but complain about everything. The stage, the heat,no lights and his gear.If he wanted a covered stage he should have put it in his contract. No one can predict the weather or the heat wave that the country is going through right now.I worked my **** off to bring Joe to town.I had radio stations playing his stuff for over a month and even got some print advertizing. Not to mention that this was a free show to the public and that all his fans got a freebee for a change.I backed the show up at least a hour so the heat and sun would pass, brought in a spot light to help light the stage per Joe's request and not so much as even a thank you for anything.I even had the sound company bring in a brand new line aray rig just for Joe.We had to jump through so many hoops for him that it turned out to be a real joke.I don't think anyone around here will be booking Joe for a show for a long time, well maybe the cheesy casino's.You lost a lot of fans because of your attitude and lack of kindness. So the next time your coming through KC just roll down the window, flip us the finger and keep on going.

"Well that did it for me.  I am no longer a JB fan."
DO YOU REALLY THINK WE ARE GOING TO SAY THAT because there was a bad gig somewhere!?

The truth is - everybody gets mad sometimes. Adults deal with it. Anybody that wants to do well should get mad when things aren't going to their full potential. I guess its unfortunate for KC fans - but you just "build a bridge" and get over it.

Everytime I've talked to Joe, he has been friendly and courteous. That's all I can base my opinion of him off of.

I say we drop the thread. Joe and co. have already shed light on the situation, it's no longer worth our time. Just my $.02.

At this point I don't think the forum is actively moderated like that. I hope it moves to a more actively moderated situation where topics are managed, started and locked when need be, and user accounts are approved and cancelled accordingly. I frequent several other boards that are well managed, everyone still gets their point across, and they live by some guidelines.

I'm sure there are enough people that would volunteer to moderate, along with Joe's staff that could do it. They just have to decide that is what they want to do.

If that's the case I would have the mods move posts that belong in other headings and start a topic that is strictly other artists, and one that is just "off topic" where you could post about the weather if thats what you want to post about.

I vote for lock it up as well.

Met you a few times last year (and your wife) at DEB and in LA at Cozy's.  One of these days I will get to your place.

Re: Joe's a real a-----e

Wow, I thought I was a negative guy.  The simple fact is that a player like Joe has simple needs, his rider needs to be respected, so that he can stay on the road.

I think what many people forget is what Joe does on stage is like running a marathon or something like that.  He is not sitting at a computer typing all day.

Just think about the amount of strength and concentration it takes to move your fingers that fast, that accurately, for that long.  I do not play guitar, but I have thought about it like this...I soder a lot.  I do a ton of fine electrical work....and my eyes get tired, my hands are wrecked, and my vision shot after a few hours.

Now imagine what Joe does...the vocal stress alone is massive.  The guy sings his heart out 200 shows a year.  And its not easy singing.  I respect the fact that Joe takes it as seriously as he does.

I did not always respect Joe, but after spending time with him...there is no doubt this cat is a stud.  I think Joe Bonamassa is an athlete.  Bringing the highest performance to the stage every night.

As far as the unprofessional promoter dude...I can say first hand Joe is a hard man.  In Wausau he pounded the sound guys a bit, but the fact is these guys look at blues fests like cake walk, so they need to be shook up a bit.  He did not cross the line, he just pushed them to where he needed them to be.  But honestly it was scary to see, and if I was watching from a distance and not hearing what he was saying I might have thought he looked like a dick.  But he was not a dick.

Joe is a good guy.  His expectations are high.  He meets them on his end, we as promoters or agents or street teamers...should rise to his level.

Someday soon we will see the man on Conan O'Brien

Re: Joe's a real a-----e

As an aside, Conan O'Brien sounds most likely to me too Dino.  Conan had Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials on a while back, saying he met them while he was doing shows in Chicago.
