Topic: Earthquake Caused By Blues Guitarist

Latest news reports have apparently scotched earlier news stories that the Earthquake that hit England last night emanated from Lincolnshire. It is now evident that the tremors were centred around around the music venue "The Cockpit" in the city of Leeds in the North of England.

The quake was caused by the opening riff to "Just Got Paid" played by American guitar prodigy Joe Bonamassa. The audience of 1000 people were visibly moved by the event and many were heard muttering that their lives would never be the same as they left the still shaking venue.

Joe did not comment but was very said to be very satisfied that his playing had reached so many.

Experts have said to expect further conflagrations around the country.

STOP PRESS

Reports that Joe is also to blame for San Andreas fault are been refuted by his camp.

Re: Earthquake Caused By Blues Guitarist

Yes, Joe did indeed rock the world last night - in more ways than one!!!!

Re: Earthquake Caused By Blues Guitarist

I can confirm, as a survivor of last night's quake, that it was indeed at the Cockpit. I left the venue with a strange hissing in my ears, totally dazed and confused, legs kinda wobbly.
What a night!!
The aftershocks were felt in Bingley as I relived it watching videos captured at the scene.

Nice post Rockinhorse

Joe and the guys certainly rock my world. Thanks to them all for a brilliant show.

Re: Earthquake Caused By Blues Guitarist

The epicentre of the Earthquake,,,,was NOT Leeds, But Don`t you wish it was, just for the endless `myth making`....lastest report as I type from pretty near that centre  is  a little village called Market Rasen, (more than a one horse town....but ,not much)
With Flood, Earthquake, and the odd blue tongue about, If I was a God fearing sort, I`d be guessing something/ someone isn`t exactly overjoyed with his children...especially in Middle England.
Sloe GIN all round...

Re: Earthquake Caused By Blues Guitarist

After the quake roused me from my slumber I could not return to my dreams so I was laid on the sofa watching late night Poker and the sleepless meanderings of my mind led me to that rather fanciful notion that Joe could in fact move the earth as well as peoples emotions.

He has certainly moved my world.

Re: Earthquake Caused By Blues Guitarist

Despite the quake, I will forever remember last night for Joe’s show in the Leeds Cockpit. Furniture rattling around the bedroom last night hardly registered because my mind was still replaying the gig.

I saw Joe last summer at the Picturedrome, Holmfirth and must admit I came away disappointed. It’s not that it was bad, it was a good performance and Joe and the band gave willingly but I was expecting “A Great Show”. Well last night I got that show & then some more.

Joe wasn’t smokin’, he was on fire, as were the band. The audience were also great, doing there bit by being appreciative & responsive (it was good to be in an audience that keeps silent when the band reduces the volume & also gives enthusiastic response at the appropriate places).

I regret that I just don’t have the ability to describe just how good the show was, guitar tone as big as a mountain, rock solid foundation from the band, guitar work that was fluent and also full of feeling and subtle nuances, good sound mix, near perfect set list, (with Blues Deluxe would have been a perfect 10), a stunning parade of guitars (nice to see the Chandler & Gigliotti along with the array Les Pauls).

Over the years I have seen a number of guitarists including, Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore & BB King. The only 2 that compared to Joe’s show last night were Rory & BB King.

The only thing left to say is, Thank you Joe & can’t wait to see you play again.

Re: Earthquake Caused By Blues Guitarist

Joe and the boys "rocked" England...heck it was just a matter of time...now he needs to come back here to Cali...hell we dont even flinch at a 4.7 earthquake...we aint had a good tremor for some time...in fact a few years ago, one hit in the morning...Deb got all nervous, I just drank my coffee and kept reading the newspaper..."honey, relax...thats just enough to wake you otta bed , not do any damage ....**YAWN**

I hear on the grapevine that Amp manufacturers are researching "seismic shock absorbers" for Joe's Amps to stand on. It's believed that the resonant qualities if his live tone are causing sympathetic vibrations in the tectonic plates within the radius of the Gig. tongue

Hi Rockinhorse,

Loved your post!!

I'll just say that the teeny-tiny shake of our house last night was NOTHING compared with the SEISMIC SHIFT that took place in my world last Friday in Crewe wink big_smile
