Re: nottingham rock city

went to rock city last night and what a night it was.rock city holds 1500 people but it is still an intimate venue it was perfect for joe.the only thing that spoilt it for me was a group of t*&^%ts talking while joe was playing woke up dreaming i eventually turned round and told them to shut the #### up at which point they started giving me abuse at this point some members of the bonamafia decided to back me up and they soon backed off they also managed to keep quiet for the rest of the gig so thanks to the people who backed me.i can,t understand why people go to gigs and talk all the way through the show those last night wre talking about what they were doing at the weekend why pay £15 just to talk they might as well stop at home.also thanks to joe and his band for an amazing night he is a true POP STAR!!!!!!!!!! those at rock city will know what i,m on about.sorry about the swearing but it really winds me up

It's very far away
It take's about a half and a day to get there

Re: nottingham rock city

Rock city was third or fourth JB gig for me, previous were Running Horse and I think twice at the Rescue Rooms. Pretty sure it's four gigs but strangely can only remember one of the rescue rooms gigs, wierd, must be getting old.  Never ceases to amaze me how many good blues players we get between Nottingham and Derby.

Joe has definitely come on with this tour, he seems to be getting more involved with the crowd too, maybe because he's getting a bit older.   Thought the playing was less flashy than previous gigs, and all the better for it, much more tasteful and becoming a really classy player to add to technical brilliance.  Much different from the first gig at the Runner.  If I remember he stepped outside before that gig and the doors got locked while he was outside !!

Much prefer him with the Les Pauls than the strats but still great to see the Gigliotti, that is simply the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen with a fantastic spiteful tone.  Have an Artinger coming this year but a JB signature Giggle is on next years list.  Les Paul tones absolutely spot on, keyboard sounds not so good until near the end, and Carmine Rohas a bit quiet for me, maybe it was just where we were stood although we were in the middle and back a bit, great player though and obviously enjoys his craft.

Can't remember which number Joe did first, but we reckoned he sung chorus a bit flat, first time I've ever heard that, guy with me a full time musician who thought Joe looked a bit nervous which might have accounted for problem.  After that though absolutely spot on with everthing.  One of the things I like is that every gig is different and Joe does the same song in a different style next tour so you always get a surprise, and always get a bit of Cream, or Zep, or Sabbath thrown into the middle of the gig.

To sum up, absolutely awesome and getting better each time.  Don't think I will ever miss a tour and number of guitar playing mates wanting to come growing every time, even got one wanting to come over from Anglesey for next tour

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-
