Topic: Guitarist Magazine Top 50 Tones

I emailed this to Mick Taylor, the editor of Guitarist magazine:

Hi Mick

I'm not sure if I should have sent this email to a different dept but I suppose the buck stops with you.....and maybe you'll pass it on, please, ta. In the last issue there seemed to be something of an oversite in the 50 Greatest Tones item......Joe Bonamassa was missing from the list. The man has tone by the bucket load and any one of his songs could've been used as an example of tonal greatness. Respect is surely due.

Cheers

Geoff

and this was his reply......

Hi Geoff, thanks for the email.
Having seen Joe on Friday and Saturday night this weekend, I couldn't agree more! What an amazing live tone, especially.
Look out for a huge feature with Joe in the next issue.

With kind regards,
Mick Taylor

Re: Guitarist Magazine Top 50 Tones

Way to go, Geoff!  So Mick Taylor went twice, when he probably could have easily have elected not to go a second night... and now there's a huge feature on Joe in the works for the next issue!  Keep us alerted!

Well done G

You pointed Mick in the right direction but his ears would need to be painted on if he didn't agree that Joe has one of the best tones in the world. Looking forward to next months issue of Guitarist dropping through my letterbox.

Re: Guitarist Magazine Top 50 Tones

Thanks guys but I think that the interview was probably already arranged before I emailed Mick.......I don't want to take any credit for this....just wanted to let you know that Mick Taylor, editor of Guitarist mag, good man that he is, agrees that Joe's 'tone' should've been included in the top 50 (probably at #1, say we all) and that there's an interview feature next month. Mick's a cool guy and very open to positive suggestions re the mag. Good to know that Joe is going to get a feature slot in the next issue smile

Re: Guitarist Magazine Top 50 Tones

Hey Geoff,
This is great news!  I left you a message at your other Guitarist thread, I'm not sure if you read all the posts, I'm glad we finally subscribed since it comes faster than getting it in the store...Its cool that you work in London, it seems you are right smack in the middle of all the Bonamania and London is feeling like Joe's home away from home!!  I'm trying to recall if it was Guitar Techniques or Guitarist that did something on Joe on their DVD not that long ago around when You and Me hit, not sure...Several fans from the UK mentioned that DVD was where they first heard of Joe, so this is all good and nice that Joe's getting great coverage.  I woke up dreaming that on one of the bands trips to London that had a little down time worked in, they stopped by to see you in your guitar shop...now I'm dreaming for Bonabuddies...:)

Re: Guitarist Magazine Top 50 Tones

Hi Angela, I love the dream but we moved the store out to Essex last year, about 25 miles east of London (Joe, play at The Cliffs Pavilion theatre in Southend perleeeze!!! We've got plenty of coffee at the store and there's beer in the fridge too....I could bring in some Grey Goose and Knob Creek smile ) It was the Guitarist mag DVD that had the clip of Joe at Rockpalast....sure turned a lot of people on to him then. It seems that there's a real buzz here this time around. It's growing into a storm!!!

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

You can yeah, but last time I bought it over there (my wife is from Maryland), it cost a small fortune. Places like Borders and Barnes & Noble usually stock it.

If I remember rightly, there's info in the magazine about a good deal for U.S. subscribers though. In fact, here you go:
