Topic: How much do we spend a year?

I looked at the beer thread and it got me thinking (scary huh)...in one calender year how much do we spend on music and everything related.....for example:

CDs
Gig Tickets
Food and beveridges
Shirts
Gas
Airline Flights
Car Rentals
Gifts
DVDs
Computer goodies
Musical instruments and equipment

Anything else??.....

Re: How much do we spend a year?

Err, um, ahhhh..... I reckon we spend just about all of it.....It's called living. I tried staying indoors and saving money but I got too bored so, as we're only on this planet for a brief look around I figure, as long as we take care of each other, let's enjoy what we can, when we can.....but try not to get in each other's way while we're doing our own thing. Peace.

Re: How much do we spend a year?

Let's see, off the top of my head:
2 or 3 cd's/dvd's a month....say$400/year
Show Tickets average another $300/year (myself and my wife)
t-shirts/etc................................$100/year
food/drinks at shows ..........guess $500/year
transportation & lodging for shows $200/year
Gifts...cd's/dvd's/show tickets....guess $400/year

Wow, that's like almost $2000 a year.

These are estimates (probably on the high side) and could be higher or lower from year to year.

Other things not on the list:
Music Magazines
XM or Sirius Radio

Re: How much do we spend a year?

lets see i do about 100 shows a year alot in nyc so i don't need a place to sleep . but ticket prices and everything i would say about 10,000 . i'm doing 15 nights of the allman brothers in may at the beacon theater tickets are 100 a pop plus recording stuff and food so each night will cost me about 150 to 200 depends on if a drink alot . 9 bucks a beer there . jacks on the rocks 8 dollars . then the show i travel for i need hotel , gas , food . tickets so that i nice piece of change , then i have around 10,000 cd's of all live music that i recorded or traded for or downloaded so cd's cost is about 10 dollars for 50 blanks . so maybe i am going for more then 10,000 never really added it all up . oh i for got cost of shrooms and some smoke got get that in there so i would say maybe more like 20,000 to 25,000 . and it's all worth it . i have been doing it since 1978 my first dead show and haven't stopped yet . before i forget since the mods see my name on a post and they seem to have to check out what i wrote to make sure i am being a good boy . this goes out to them i talked to my wife and told here to take my b alls so you guys don't get mad at me .so she has them and will give them back to me after i am off the forum so that should make you guys happy . she hooked up a snap system for them so i can pop them off anytime i come on the forum and hand them over to her .....................joe

Re: How much do we spend a year?

I'd hate to think what we spend on that stuff, but truly we wouldn't do without it. We've spent in the tens of thousands too.

No regrets.

Re: How much do we spend a year?

well, i think it could be about 500-1000 € a year, depending on who is touring.
i thought about it earlier, but never count it exactly, because maybe otherwise i would get doubts big_smile

Well Sugar Daddy #2 Shred...Save that other card because we may have to go to London next May! I'm low maintainance, so it could be worse! There's a whole lot I'd do without before I would give up my musicical habits!     Sister Cate

Re: How much do we spend a year?

The very recent announcement that Amazon had doubled its profits last quarter, came as no surprise to me.  If they want to know the origins of that recent $100 million in revenue, I'll be happy to supply a copy of our recent credit card statements.  I mean really, there comes a point in life where ya just gotta dive in and see where all of this great music came from, right?  So, our "historical" blues collection has grown exponentially this year.  There seems to be no end in sight.  What fun we're having.  smile
