Topic: First UK tour date absolutely unbelievable show

I have to say that I was completely blow away last night at the Crawley Hawth by some of the finest guitar playing I have even witnessed. I was sat no more than 8 feet away from Joe on stage. The tone of all his guitars was so finely tuned, to hear the the Indian influenced extended intro to Mountain time stunned the whole audience of 500. That was my third time of seeing Joe in the UK and every time is in bigger or better venues. The set list contained all the of the new material with all the now classics that everyone wants to hear. Having just heard the radio show from the night before, the next night I was sitting in listening live. I can't wait until he plays the Shepherds Bush on Friday for any even louder experience with the Boys. My Wife, who came last night even caught one of his picks. Woke up dreaming just gets faster and faster every time.

Crosby Loggins as support was also a great start to a great evening. Can't remember all the set list, I am sure someone else can post. Joe needs to put out a complete live album of this current tour as the material recorded in the studio just does not capture the emotional playing in a live environment.   NO WONDER THE TOUR IS SOLD OUT!!!!!!!!!!

Nikb..Ask and you shall receive..A Live CD is in the works from this tour..See the "Live From Nowhere in Particular" thread! I heard the radio show too and got excited....I can only imagine your joy! hmm well I was at Crawley too - and was a little underwhelmed. Great intimate venue with very good acoustics, and I was expecting better than Shepherds Bush last autumn. However it all seemed a bit formulaic, and a tad on the short side at just under 90 minutes. Think he should include some old/trad blues - played his way of course. Still a damn fine player, let's put it down to 'first-night-itis' and maybe they were a bit travel-weary?

Could be, but have seen him play shorter sets and have traveled many miles to see it but always well worth it.

      Thanks for your review of the absolutely, undeniably best guitarist, vocalist, and all around good-guy (yes, all rolled in to one cool dude) Joe Bonamassa !  And I am so excited for your wife catching one of Joe's picks !!!!!  What fun you must have had and what fun you get to look forward to!!!!!!  I'll be right there in the "Joe Spirit" with all of ya' on Friday smile

Hi There,
I was there on Tuesday and thought that it was really good. I was in the front row just to the left of JB.

To be fair, he did say that they were all suffering from the effects of flying to India and back for one show.

I have seen JB at Shepherds Bush and Mr. Kyps and both of those gigs had much more atmosphere but this was the first time I have seen them where the whole audience has been seated. Maybe that was why.

I think that the band were in good form on Tuesday. JB 's playing and singing was brilliant as usual and the band were really good. As I am a bass player I spent a lot of time looking at what Carmine was doing and he is really good isn't he. The bass came across much better here than at Mr. Kyps, you could really feel it where I was.  He just stands there and lays down these really solid bass lines (that have more to them than you think). And he looks like he's enjoying himself. Brilliant.

I can't get to Shepherds Bush on Friday and I am gutted about that. I can't wait 'til the next time.

Tuesday night at Crawley, eh.

If the boys were a little jaded, they will be totally amazing at Shepherds Bush on Friday.

As ever Joe was sublime, the others were just as good and talking with Carmine and Rick after the show you would not have known they had just flown back from India. Whatever they are on, I want some.

A neighbour who plays  the odd gig himself came along and having barely heard of Joe himself, was totally blown away. Another one  converted!

That would be correct. With a awesome seque into Dazed and Confused. One of my favorite parts of the show. (Ok, they're all favorite parts. I don't have any parts that aren't favorites. big_smile)

Thanks Nick, mgdavid, briJBfanUK, & Howie...Steely Just Got Paid is from Ze Zee Top's Rio Grande Mud (2nd album).  mgdavid nothing wrong with hoping for more than 90 minutes worth and an old blues barn burner-I keep pushing for "Going Down"...Bri, Carmine's bass lines have a LOT to them, but with just the right touch of restraint...he's amazing...Bogie NOT-restrained should not and shan't be either, Rick, well he's doubly restrained and you don't know you would actually miss him big time, unless he was not there in the mix at all.  Enjoy!
