8 tracks...you know, to this day I still catch myself anticipating/expecting the track change in the middle of some songs, and then I remember it's a CD (and that I'm not in my 66 Chevelle SuperSport anymore)

Stu...I just had a flashback!!...I went fishing with a friend from work a few years back...he had a 1965 dodge pickup with an 8 track player and cassette player...I got in that truck and laughed my arse off...they both worked...he reaches under the seat and puts in "Aqualung" on the 8 track...we reminised for most of the day about "the old days"...thank got for cds though...oh by the way...did you have the 396 motor and 4 speed muncie in that 66 Chevelle?

Dave

No Muncie but yeah it had a 396 that ran low 13's...which I thought was pretty cool until my buddy picked up a 72 Chevelle SS with a L-88 427 that ate my lunch! Now THAT car was an absolute freak of nature...

Getting back to the metal topic.although heavy metal and muscle cars do go together dont they?like was said here earlier, there are different kinds of metal, just like anything. Death metal, new metal stoner rock.hard rock, hair metal, punk metal ect.I like some bands, bands from the past,Black Sabbath,Deep Purple,Metallica [some],many more. The newer bands That have that kind of sound are good too,Wolfmother,Black Stone Cherry.prefer some vocals and song structure with some groove to it rather than screamming.
Heres a new cd that fits the 70's era well.

Re: Any Metal Fans?

Gary, gotta agree with you....I don't think of Wolfmother, Black Stone Cherry, Purple etc as anything other than rock. It can be as heavy as you like but gimme some melody to hang on to. Let the record company execs pidgeonhole the music. My rule of thumb is that there are two types of music.....the good and the bad. Each to thier own......(but I stand by my previouse quote) smile

Yeah Jeff, er Geoff,
30 seconds of that cacaphony was all I could bear.
POINT MADE!

I still prefer hip-shaking music to head-banging music.  From the bottoms, you know.
To each their own.

Oh Ya Pain and Sorrow, kinda forgot that P&S could be considered metal,or bonametal to be more precise.I know that style doesnt really fit in with what he's been doing lately, but I could go for some new material in that genre once and awhile from Joe.

Re: Any Metal Fans?

"Metal" is eye of the beholder to a great extent. Except for a song here and there by others, only 2 metal bands get much play by me...Metallica, and Blue Oyster Cult (the eye of the beholder thing, but they out-metaled Sabbath by a mile on the Black and Blue Tour and I would label them as "intellimetal").

Re: Any Metal Fans?

An old headbanger here. Actually my kids got me back into it since my oldest is a fair shredder so there was lots of it in the house. I'd tag along to gigs now and then to keep an eye on them and they and their friends got a kick that the dad was a rocker and could still run with the younguns.
