Topic: Any Metal Fans?

Check out Black Tide... All members are under the age of 20... and the lead singer is on 14 years old. Kind of Rush-esque im diggin it.

Re: Any Metal Fans?

i like some metal.  i think most of it is awful.  pantera were/are godly.  pure metal.  sabbath also so damn timeless.  iommi.  nothing technically brilliant, just the riff master.  i like probably 5 or 6 metal bands i think the genre as a whole is awful and most of the bands deal more with attitude and image than music.  if i want to get yelled at like that ill talk to my father you know.  no not really we get along fine but the yelling and/or grunting pisses mee off.  its fine if it is necessary, but just have  a point if you are going to do it.  please

Used to like it more.  Now, not so much.  There are good "metal" bands out there, but there are always exceptions to the rule.

TBH, metal kind of makes me feel like I need to take a bath.

Tool is one of the better newer ones to come along.

i think it is something most people grow out of.  i mean eventually you realize that there is nothing special about almost every metal band out there save a very select few.

I'd even hesitate to classify them as "metal" at all.

Funny thing is, I stole that "take a bath" quip from Adam Jones of Tool from an old interview with him.....:P

I must say though, a lot of things that used to be called metal I really enjoy.  Black Sabbath, for example.

singer's voice reminds me of Vince Neil in this vid

That is some good stuff. No grunting, no drop tuned mesa sludge, great guitar solos (dueling guitars), cool song. It's like the old metal is coming back again (just like everything else). 2 horns up!!!!

Re: Any Metal Fans?

Do you guys call this metal?  I really don't know.  I'm not trying to be funny.

Almost like GnR or some 90s something.  I don't know much about this whole arena.
What would you call Wolfmother?

Back in the day I had Black Sabbath in my 8 track collection just before Blood, Sweat and Tears.  Alphabetized, doncha know.  Thought they both were unique.

8 tracks...you know, to this day I still catch myself anticipating/expecting the track change in the middle of some songs, and then I remember it's a CD (and that I'm not in my 66 Chevelle SuperSport anymore)

Stu...I just had a flashback!!...I went fishing with a friend from work a few years back...he had a 1965 dodge pickup with an 8 track player and cassette player...I got in that truck and laughed my arse off...they both worked...he reaches under the seat and puts in "Aqualung" on the 8 track...we reminised for most of the day about "the old days"...thank got for cds though...oh by the way...did you have the 396 motor and 4 speed muncie in that 66 Chevelle?
