Topic: Storyville

A couple of years ago Phil Cornell got me into Storyville, an all star band from Austin Texas. They have a new double live CD with DVD recorded at Antone's. One of the best band nobody has heard of from the 90's.

Divid Grissom the guitar player is one of the few guys to impress me since seeing Joe. Here is a link to their myspace http://www.myspace.com/storyvilleaustintx The show was recorded in Jan. 2006 I got a chance to see them in August 2005. Malford Milligan vocals, David Holt 2nd guitar, Tommy Shannon bass and Chris Layton drums.

I heard a song from it on thursday the 27th ordered it that night. Came today. Very fast.

Re: Storyville

very good DVD, double CD indeed...they also played Houston recently

Re: Storyville

Hey Moody Man:

Happy New Year!!

I have enjoyed the (2) CD's they put out a few years back. Very tasty Texas licks.

I will check into the CD set.

Santa brought the Crossroads DVD and Clapton Biography and CD collection.

I picked up the Mule-Tale of Two Cities DVD set. Very tasty indeed.

Have a great New Years!

He also is on John Melencamp's Whenever We Want It CD. The guy smokes on it. His last gig was with the Dixie Chicks I try not to hold that against him.

Re: Storyville

Was he on "Old and in the Way"?  Cathy

If that is a Chick's CD title I wouldn't know. I sided with Toby Keith in their battle since he is an Oklahoma boy.

He toured with them on their most recent tour along with Roscoe Beck on bass.

Re: Storyville

Wow.  How did I not know about this?  I love Storyville.  Really, really solid albums from the 90's.  I have always loved Malford Milligans voice...so distinctive and soulful.  I will pick this up immediately.  Thanks!!!

Re: Storyville

Old and in the Way is from the 70's. It had Jerry Garcia on it...as for the "other" comment, I sided with the DC's ...play nice. Cathy

I think that was Grissman. or something like that anyway different guy.

Re: Storyville

Cathy: I'm pretty sure the name you're looking for for Old & In the Way is David Grisman, who is a mandolin player.

Here's some info about him:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Grisman

May have to pick up the Storyville DVD.  I know David Grissom has been a big PRS fan for a number of years and I think has a signature model out now.  I also LOVE Malford Milligan's voice from the Alien Love Child CD, MikeB, I think he actually sang two songs, one is "Once A Part of Me" (which may be my favorite song on the CD) and the other would be "Don't Cha Know".

Re: Storyville

Malford is not only a GREAT singer but a really nice guy.  We've had the opportunity to spend some time with him backstage a few times now and he's very personable.  Tallan really loves him and he's diggin on Tallan also.  We're going down to Austin soon because he's going to take Tallan to Antone's to play on that legendary stage.

Another GREAT guy is Roscoe Beck.  Tallan has played with Roscoe and I couldn't tell who was having more fun Tallan, Roscoe or the crowd.  Roscoe has also offered to take Tallan to Antone's.   So we're hopefully going to plan the trip around both of them being in town at the same time.

I know in Feb. Greg Koch, Malford, Roscoe and Tom will be doing a tour of Europe for a month.  So if anyone in Europe wants a GREAT show besides Joe's upcoming tour go check out Greg Koch and the Other Bad Men.

Have a GREAT one!
