Topic: Athens, GA 11-27-07 - Melting Point

We are so ready!!! Last February's show at the Melting Point in Athens, GA was so awesome, and it is such a great venue to see Joe!!  We're counting the minutes!

So glad David A and David C are coming down from NC to see this show, and that our son Chris is home from school  to catch his first Joe show with his buddies -- they will definitely be blown away, as will our other friends and neighbors catching Joe for the first time!, and the ones making this their number two JB show!

Looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Looking forward to seeing Joe the last time this year.

Kathy, sounds like a great venue to see a live show.  The drive back will be a killer after the show but no pain no sorrow, or something like that.

Re: Athens, GA 11-27-07 - Melting Point

I'm excited for this show as I attended the last one and man was it amazing as Joe played his btt off and Crosby Loggins put on a great opening leading the way for joe to rock the house. Paul from crosby loggins group joined Joe on Asking around For You and it was the best version of the song i've heard and I hope they do it again.

Joe you should eat lunch at the Porterhouse Grill and get the bleu chesse steak as it is amazing!!!!  great staff too....  another great place to eat at is  the "Last Resort Grill"  looking forward to seeing a great show and hopefully you'll be doing a meet and greet as i'm bringing my camera and I would love to get a pic.

Looking forward to meeting fellow bonamassa fans and making this a night to remeber for joe so we can make this a yearly visit to athens

Re: Athens, GA 11-27-07 - Melting Point

The show last night was another stellar performance by Joe, Carmine, Bogie and Rick.  The venue was really cool, great sound and not a bad seat in the house.  Crosby started right at 8:00 and did a nice set by himself.  Joe got on about 8:55 and ended about 10:40.  This is the setlist as I can remember:

Bridge
So Many Days
Mountain Time
Walk In My Shadow
Another Kind Of Love
Sloe Gin
Highwater
Heartaches
Woke Up Dreaming
Just Got Paid/Dazed

Encore 1
One of These Days
Tap An Angel On My Shoulder

Encore 2
Ball Peen Hammer

The highlights for me was So Many Roads, killer vocals, great leads. Also Woke Up was one of the best live version that I have seen and heard.  But the FAVORITE was One of These Days with the extended ending, Joe switched to his Gisbon Prototype and played a beautiful slide while Rick played a velvety keyboard, unbelievable!

Great to see Kathy B. and Randy, also David (Karco) and Deb.  Nice to visit with Joe, Carmine, Rick and Bogie, you guys are great.  Hope you enjoy your time off in December.

It took us 3 1/2 hours to drive from the Carolinas but it was well worth it.  Left the venue about midnight and got home about 3:15 in the morning and at work by 8:30, glad I work at home...  Came down with Dave C, his son and my son too.  Our last show for 2007 for seeing Joe and one of the best for the year.  Saw Joe in Charlotte, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Raleigh, Richmond and now Athens...  Look forward to 2008!

Thanks David, you, like everyone who's been fortunate enough to hear it, got me jealous by hearing One of These Days...Ah, it's alright, you deserve it!  Good thing gas is cheapest in the south!!

Re: Athens, GA 11-27-07 - Melting Point

I agree with everything David A said.   I don't think I could improve on his assessment of the show -- it was fantastic!   It was great to hear the new band and the new songs, as we last saw Joe in Athens back in February.  I really have enjoyed listening to the new CD, but hearing these songs live is a whole different experience.  Songs that I "liked" on the CD are now songs that I "love" after hearing them live, such as Ball Peen Hammer and One of These Days.  (I'd already seen the NSJF videos on the others, so knew what to expect, and wasn't disappointed!)

Joe & the guys were on fire.  Joe -- wow!!!  What David said about Woke Up Dreaming -- you always blow us away on this song, last night it was off the hook!  At the end of it, during the standing ovation, my sister-in-law started the "bowing to the God" move and others followed suit!

My son, his girlfriend and friends LOVED their first Joe show, as did my uncle, my neighbors and other friends who were first timers.  A big thanks to Joe and the guys for being so gracious and generous with their time in signing the many autographs, talking to the fans and posing for pictures.  It means more than you can imagine to everyone, so a big thank you not only for the great show, but for what kind of people you are!  You are the greatest, and have the greatest fans in the world.

Great to see David A & David C again (and their sons), as well as meet Karco (David) & Debbie (you guys rock!).  I love the fact that Karco made this show a surprise for Debbie, until they arrived, and she ran right into Joe in the bar.  Christie & Michael (not sure of your forum names), Glenn & others -- great to see you, and we can't wait until next time!

I hope that playing the Melting Point will become a regular stop for Joe on the tour schedule.  Everyone I talked to loves this venue, its sound, and the intimate feel of it.  Plus, there is not a bad seat/spot in the house.  I think this is, and will always be, my favorite venue, and I heard the same from others.  In the "dream big"/fantasy category, a two night weekend show would be da' bomb.

Thanks again to all those who shared this great night with us!

Kathy

It all comes back into my mind when it's described so well....I wish I was in Florida , for lots of reasons, but the last shows until???????? All those new Bonamaniacs..it just takes 1 show!!! Shows always seem special when you get to meet with forum friends.  Like Patty says "It just doesn't get any better"....                                     Cathy

Re: Athens, GA 11-27-07 - Melting Point

how is one of these days live?  is it pretty similar to the album version.  with the instrumental outro of the song ive always been curious as to how it would be performed live

That's what people have been saying, apparently as it was recorded...
