Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

I'm cool. I just think when we're discussing talent, things like clothes and hats should be thrown by the wayside. There's more than one person I've known that loved SRV as a guitar player, but thought he looked silly in that hat. smile

It's funny if you look at Clapton in 1967 and look at Clapton now, and I guarantee you nobody saw that coming. From rockstar to distinguished English gentleman.

And back on topic, it's amazing to me to think how much of a wanker I thought Tremonti was while in Creed, but now I realize that all of my ire should've been directed at Scott Stapp. Tremonti is a heck of a player, and one that like Joe just wants to get better and better. Good for him.

HA! I always thought SRV looked like somebody put a cowboy in a blender with some flower children. It wasn't just the hat!

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Now, in all fairness, I did say other people. I thought Stevie had a cool look that only he could pull off. Nobody could pull off that look. Tommy Shannon talks of how they would go to malls while looking for cool pipes and such, and one day, they were walking in the mall, people were staring, and it turns out Stevie had on these red pants, with this wild shirt, and this huge hat with a huge feather hanging off of it, with sunglasses and this big pip in his mouth looking like Sherlock Holmes, just going about his business. Tommy starts laughing, and Stevie asks him what's so funny. He goes, "You ever get the idea that people are staring at you?" And Stevie replied yes. And Tommy says, "Well, sometimes they are."

Re: Mark Tremonti (Mentions JB)

Mark got some nice ink in the new Guitar Player (Jan.08)  Mark has some kind words for Joe in relation to the changes he has gone through musically.  The biggest challenge he sees with their new CD is to prove they've grown since the Creed days.  The song he is most proud of is "Blackbird"...8 minutes long.

"I was really into neoclassical shredding and tapping and sweeping when I was younger, but guys like Audley Freed, Blues Saraceno, and Joe Bonamassa inspired most of my playing on this record." smile

And Deezer- the easiest way for me to summarize Clapton...Clapton is a Journeyman...his life has been a journey with lots of twists and turns...Did you finish the book? What'd you think?

Hats can instantly transform an aura of a person whether its Leon Russell in his tophat, Jimi or SRV in their hat or a girl in a bikini on the beach in a cowgirl hat!  I thought Stevie looked cool in his hat as well as Jimi!

I agree he can pull it off... but that's like his team jersey (looking funny). Now everyone else that does is it is considered a poser because its already been done.

I love Mark Tremonti.  I saw him in concert a few times with Creed and up until Joe - was the best live show I had ever seen.  Memories - St. Paul, I'm standing in the middle of the floor section.  The lights dim unexpectedly and there is a huge ball of fire on the stage that actually heats my face (imagine the wizard of Oz's head), then the music starts.  It was so loud my jeans vibrated.  Now that happens often at live shows when I'm up front - but this was dramatic vibrating!  It would have been more dramatic if it weren't for the then-boyfriend wrapped around my leg having a panic attack.  But that's another story for another board... LOL

In summary, love Mark, love the fact that Mark loves Joe...

I just picked up the new cd Blackbird by Alter Bridge over the weekend.  What an excellent cd!  These guys have it going on.  Don't want to start an argument with anyone, but I think they're better than Creed was.  Just my 2 cents.  Anybody seen them live?

You won't get any argument here. I hate Creed. More Stapp than anything else. Thank God Tremonti got out of there.
