Topic: 31 Favorite Rock albums from the 70s

Well, if anyone watches Sea of Tranquility on youtube, and I do recommend that you subscribe to the page if you haven't, they just finished a monthly countdown today, and Pete Pardo, who moderates the page, mentioned his favorite 70s Rock & Pop albums. He'd already done countdowns talking about Southern Rock, Progressive Rock, Hard Rock & Heavy Metal, etc., so this focused on albums that didn't really fall into those categories. I followed along and included my own list of favorites as well. There's certainly plenty of albums I didn't mention, but there's only 31 days in this month, and we tried to included just one album per artist, although I did include 2 albums from one artist in my list. I did include a few that also fit into the Folk, R&B, and Blues genres as well, but they still fit in with the rest. Here's my 31 favorites that I listed, which are not ranked by the way. These are all great to me.:

#31: Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Night Moves
#30: Jackson Browne - Running On Empty

Re: 31 Favorite Rock albums from the 70s

Hmm, tricky one as a lot of genres we take for granted these days didn't exist back in the 1970s. (Best quote I heard was that "genres were for record stores,,,").

Mulling things over, and I don't know if it's what you intended this thread to be, but the 30 albums from that decade that had the biggest effect (and that  still play) on me are: -

1 - David Bowie - Low
2 - Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
3 - Led zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
4 - Blondie - Parallel Lines
5 - Van Halen - Van Halen
6 - Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
7 - The Who - Who's Nest
8 - Pretenders - Pretenders
9 - Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygène
10 - Black Sabbath - Paranoid
11 - Be-Bop Deluxe - Sunburst Finish
12 - Blue Oyster Cult - Mirrors
13 - The Shadows - Tasty
14 - E.L.O. - A New World Record
15 - Motorhead - Bomber
16 - Deep Purple - Made In Japan
17 - Jethro Tull - Aqualung
18 - AC/DC - Highway To Hell
19 - Rainbow - Rising
20 - Lynyrd Skynyrd - (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd)
21 - Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic
22 - ABBA - Arrival
23 - Tangerine Dream - Zeit
24 - Jeff Beck - Blow By Blow
25 - Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar babies
26 - Dire Straits - Dire Straits
27 - Thin Lizzy - Black Rose: A Rock Legend
28 - Scorpions - Lovedrive
29 - Free - Heartbreaker
30 - Alice Cooper - Welcome To My Nightmare

When life gives you lemons; don't make lemonade.
Give back the lemons.  Why were the lemons free?  What's wrong with the lemons?
Do Not trust the lemons...

Re: 31 Favorite Rock albums from the 70s

Those are some great ones as well, but when he presented this list on the site, he left out Southern Rock, Progressive Rock, Hard Rock, etc. since he'd already done countdowns with those albums, so the ones on this list don't really fit into those categories.
