Topic: Favorite studio album releases 2022

Its that time of year again.
Not sure l want  to rank them  in an order.
These are the ones I liked most that came out this year.
1) Young Blood Marcus King. Why l always  have appreciated his talent his music was not in my wheelhouse for the most part as it was mostly soul. That changed with this  one. A great rock album  of groove.
2)  The Blues dont lie Buddy Guy
Damn right he still has  the blues!
What a great collection of songs and Buddy still  can play and sing hasn't lost it at all.
3) Ride Walter Trout. Another fine album by Walter.
4) Soul Food Store. Matt Pierce and the Mutiny. 2nd album of great classic rock catchy tunes. Throw it in the blues rock category
5) Shake the Roots Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown. Real good blues rock album
6)Guardians of the Galaxy Super Vintage.
Another high quality retro classic rock album from the band.
7) Blue Moon Rising Bryce Janey
Another veteran putting out an excellent  blues rock album. Great songs
8) Voodo Nation  Supersonic Blues Machine
Well done 3rd album. Not my favorite but still real good.

Honorable mentions
Trouble is 25 Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Its a redo of his old album. So not new material so want  to set  it aside. Sounds great.
  High Voltage Blues Anthony Gomes.
Again mostly re recordings of older songs.
Good album but more of  a best of.
Well thats my take on  what I really got into for 2022

I think I've mentioned a time or two on the Forum that I'm all in with these guys now. Glad to see them on your list, Gary!

I am also loving the Larkin Poe release Blood Harmony!

Re: Favorite studio album releases 2022

Thanks to Gary for once again augmenting my letter to Santa, some tasty sounding albums from over there: sadly they’ll have to wait until the UK post system is back up and running reliably again (plagued by strike action currently).

Well, fair to say that 2022 has been a great year for new music, many bands holding back releases or really thinking about their reactions to the last 2 years.

So, like Gary, in no particular order, and excuse the ones that are slightly/way-out the box: -
Elles Bailey – Shining In The Half-light
Dan Patlansky – Shelter of Bones
Marillion – An Hour Before It’s Dark
Kris Barras – Death Valley Paradise
Toby Lee – Icons Vol 1  (covers album, but the lad done good!)
Ian Siegal – Stone By Stone
Bonham / Bullick – Bonham / Bullick (covers album again, this time by Deborah Bonham & partner)
Xander & The Peace Pirates - Order Out of Chao
Porcupine Tree - Closure/Continuation
Bernie Marsden – Trios
Thorbjorn Risager & Black Tornado - Navigation Blues
Ariel Posen – Headway
Troy Redfern - Wings of Salvation
Cardinal Black - January Came Close
Erja Lyytinen - Waiting For The Daylight
Austin Gold - Those City Lights
Benjamin Amos – Letters (a home produced solo effort, but a quality album nonetheless)
Rebecca Downes - The Space Between Us
The Black Crowes – 1972 (more an “EP”, but one you play over and over and over….etc)
Aynsley Lister – Along For The Ride
Steve Hill - Dear Illusion

Honourable mentions, because I’m not sure if they are 2021 or 2022 releases, but worthy of inclusion: -
Krissy Matthews – Pizza Man Blues
Sean James – A Place In The Unknown

When life gives you lemons; don't make lemonade.
Give back the lemons.  Why were the lemons free?  What's wrong with the lemons?
Do Not trust the lemons...

Thanks for posting your list. Gives me the motivation to listen  to some music not on my radar. Navigation Blues should have been on my list. I have been enjoying that album!

See there's also a recent release by Jeremiah Johnson that I'll have to be chasing up - Hi-Fi Drive By
