Re: What song are you listening to right now?

This was the first one I listened to, was into other bands at the time. I was blown away with it, hearing it for the first time at my little brothers house no less. I was able to see them only 3 times in following years, one of them was the R30 tour in Atlanta

Rush - Moving Pictures (1982) 40th Anniversary Edition

Always had a bit of a hard job, so far as I was concerned, following the mighty Permanent Waves album and moving Rush further away from the sci-fi epics and leaning more electronica. However, as time has gone on, the album has improved more and more.
The treat though is the accompanying 2 Live discs, the complete 1881 YYZ show, previously unreleased (YYZ is the airport code for Toronto). This is the marriage between the proggy epics like A Farewell To Kings and 2112 and the newer Permanent Waves & Moving Pictures. A hometown gig, and Rush were at the top of their game.
One of those bands I never got to see, we never seemed to be in the same place at the right time, but this is part of a growing catalogue of "wish I'd bloody been there..."

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

this is the new one from Polyphia, their first since sometime in 2019 and their first song ever on nylon guitar strings. I have looked everywhere and cannot find the name of the new release. My son likes them a lot. I think this is pretty good for a band that has played prog/rock for many years, they are out of Plano TX

My god-son is currently at Uni in Edinburgh, and like all good students, is spending time frequenting local bars.

His favourite for getting together with his bandmates is The Jazz Bar. I don't know if the beer is cheap, or particularly good, but there's a guy who plays there regularly who is pretty darn good... Aki Remally. See what you think....

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

a bit of trivia that I did not know previously. This is the only Zep song to feature a guest artist on backing vocals. She was Sandy Denny and sadly died at the age of 31. She and Robert are great together on this. She was a folk/rock singer for the group Fairport Convention

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

two of the greatest guitarists of our time, and they ain't exactly spring chickens. You may know Tommy but do you know Jack Pearson ? Jack is out of Nashville and has played with everybody who is anybody. I saw him with Govt Mule many years ago
I meant to say that Jack normally plays a cheap stock Fender Squier, with very few if any pedals, and he sounds just as good as he does here with the Epiphone

Ian will turn 77 in August ............... with Steve Morse on guitar, and Roger Glover on bass they sound like the same group from many years ago. I hate that I didn't make the effort to see them but this is the next best thing I guess

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

whatever you do, don't answer that door. Some great playing here from KTBA '17, with Larry's son Travis on bass guitar and Lemar Carter on the drumset. I really like King's ES345 Stereo but they are very heavy. You had better have some sturdy legs if you have to stand up for any length of time
