Re: What song are you listening to right now?
try one more and then I must get back to work. This is a lot more mainstream Eric with a blistering lead guitar

what a beautiful song, not your typical Eric Gales tune
My favorite song on the album! Stunning, brought me to tears.
So, I don’t know about you guys, but while we’re in the “start-of-the-year” doldrums, that lull between looking back over the old stuff and anticipating the new stuff, I like to have a look outside the box, often under it….
That’s sort of explains how I came over these guys, Luka Šulić & Stjepan Hauser, a pair of Classically trained Croatian musicians who make the cello not only Rock’n'Roll but also, dare I sat it, a bit sexy…..

Unfortunately, looks like this year 2Cellos are calling it a day, so no chance of seeing them unless a trip to Wembley SSE later in the year.

Jethro Tull - The Zealot Gene (2022)
Well, I suppose the ABBA fans waited 40 years, so 19 isn’t that much of an ask for the Tull-sters. Except, is it a Tull album? Certainly, there’s no mistaking Ian Anderson’s vocals & prowess on the flute, but after being the backbone of 21 of the previous 22 albums, it has to be said that Martin Barre is a miss in the soundscape though a big thumbs up to Florian Ophale who had the hardest job in trying to preserve the “Tull” guitar sound while not slavishly copying Barre’s particular style - well handled sir. Overall, the sound is brisk and light but seems to lack the air of theatricality that the band formerly had.
Subject-wise, Anderson has lost none of his touch and lyrical sparkle as for this album he seems to have turned to religion for inspiration; rather than turning on religion as in the past. some ways though, tying the piece to current events, there are parallels to Stormwatch. It’ll be interesting whether that bodes as to how well Zealot gene will be received down the line.
Personally, I think its a misstep to have resurrected the Jertho Tull banner, even if Tull.com wasn’t the best place to leave off (for all original material), a bit too much water has passed under the bridge.
yes he plays acoustic too. Many years back son and I went to a Grizzlies game here and he played an incredible electric version of it, except that he got a little carried away and accidentally pulled the chord out of the amp. No worries, he plugged it right back in and continued

not their greatest version ever but it's really good to see them reunited after all these years. I am glad that both Micks decided to bury the past. No Bobby Keys on the sax but it's decent enough. RIP Charlie and Bobby

I've always felt the best Stones music was with Mick Taylor on guitar. He jumped in and got out at the right time.
Good video choice for the reunion.

is this Greeny?
well this was a real family get together a few years back. Eugene normally plays bass but here decided to tackle the guitar, fairly decent I must say. On the back side of the stage in the suit and pork pie hat is Daniel Gales, Eric's other half brother besides Manuel who passed away in 2002. Daniel can play a little guitar himself, Eric has put him on stage occasionally
This is from the Good for Sumpthin' release

Hands up anybody here who’s heard of Harlis Sweetwater..... That’s the band and not some new soft drink. I've checked back through the forum archive, but couldn't find anything.
The other night, my gig-buddy Michael passed on a couple of CDs that he tried but just couldn’t hook into but thought might rattle my tin ears. And you know what, they did.
So who, or what is Harlis Sweetwater? Well, he hails from Huntington County, CA, belied by the rich, raucous Stax/Memphis sound of the band; a thumping five-piece, Led by deep-voiced, broad-shouldered, sideburn-sporting Harlis Sweetwater, the group play honest-to-goodness, sweaty, soul music, and invariably features a horn section. Harlis has been recording/playing for almost 30 years now, starting out with the soul band Barrelhouse before stepping out in 2012 with his own band and cracking debut EP Lights Goin’ Down., one of the discs I was given.
Fast forward 5 years to the 2nd disc, and while the line-up may have changed a little (sax replacing trombone), the message stays the same and is the title of the album - Holler Stomp & Growl. You could easily draw a parallel with NJ’s Billy Walton Band, certainly for the “Friday night party” vibe.

Goodbye June - Universal Mega Love
Eric Gales - My Own Best Friend (Crown) - beautiful
celebrating all things Eric Gales now with the release of Crown let's go back in the time machine to 2001. This is with Manuel on additional guitar and Eugene on bass, Eric on lead guitar and vocals. So it's still the Gales Brothers just not released as such, and I suspect but don't know for sure that it's Hubert HBomb Crawford on the drums

Goodbye June off their new album. "Three Chords". This is a fun band to mindlessly Rock.
