At age 67 I have had a lot of musical adventures through the years. I don't remember ever being without music growing up. I started with my father's music very early on - Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Stan Getz, Charlie Parker etc, all of the jazz greats, and then worked my way into the Beatles, Stones, and others. There were some good times and some not so good. I was nearly decapitated by a sawhorse trying to get into a Jethro Tull concert. I was nearly electrocuted on stage when a huge storm came up at Legion Field here in Birmingham AL, we worked hard to keep that overhead tarp from collapsing. If it had gotten me then it would have also taken out Billy Preston, Buddy Miles and some of their bands.
But this was a magical night in 2012 at a small club here on the outskirts of Birmingham. My brother in laws dad had a band I did not know, 3 guys with acoustic guitars and really good vocals. That was it, no bass, no drums, no keyboards. About half way through their first set one of them said they were going to play a song by Mannasas, and asked if anyone knew who they were. With a kneejerk reaction I raised my hand and regretted it, I was the only one in the crowd that raised their hand, somewhat embarrassing. But then I had a momentary Deja Vu and realized what was coming. I turned to all at our table and said OMG, they are going to play Johnny's Garden. Indeed they did and it was a near perfect cover.

Some 46 years later, 41 albums including 17 studio and 13 live. Coming from a bunch of old farts like me, they have done a great job with Senjutsu. It is loaded on the Utube, I'm listening to all of it now

In the vein of Greta Van Fleet these guys are new to the Mascot label with their first release. A lot of the songs are really short ???
I have no idea where they are from. I like it just OK I guess, see what you think. Aha, they are from Tennessee

please excuse me if I posted this previously, but it's still worth another listen. With Mr Gales in da house, this is a Bill Withers cover with Tony Hall of Dumpstaphunk on 5 string bass and vocals, most excellent

This guy recently bought George Benson's entire record collection, and it is extensive. So I have gone back in time listening to the likes of Wayne Shorter, Kenny Burrell, and Grant Green. It is mostly jazz as you would figure and he has put some of it up already on ebay on the link "the in groove". It's not all jazz though, I found this Italian import by Status Quo

Carolyn has been a backing vocalist for Steely Dan for a long, long time. It seems like she is on nearly every tour with them. This is an alt Dan group Donald put together, I'm sure glad he let her sing

If you look up shreddar (rhymes with cheddar) in the dictionary, lo and behold there is a picture of Guthrie. I tried through the years to learn to play to no avail. Too many notes to count, his playing makes my head spin

Al is one of the best acoustic guitarists ever. I never got to see Return to Forever but I did see him live in an acoustic only set back in the 70s

a lot of people have never heard of Johnny Hiland, but most everybody knows Brent. This is why so many have gone to Nashville to record ............ Joe, Robben Ford, Jack White and the list goes on. I love this kind of southern pickin'. I also share a birthday with Brent, I'm exactly 5 years older
