Re: St. Louis Show @ The Pageant

Unfortunately my cousins didn't make it to the show Shred, but I can say that we will be present at any future Tulsa shows. It's a great excuse for us all to get together. I told them you said Hi, they remembered you and said "that guy was cool!" I said "Well of course he is, he's Shred".

Take care brother... My best to you and Mrs. Shred...

Re: St. Louis Show @ The Pageant

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to chime in with everyone else that had a great time at the Pageant.

(A little back story about me.)

The first time I got to see Joe was at Finale. My wife surprised me with tickets for my birthday. That just blew me away!! I had been a fan and never dreamed I would have a chance to see him live. Small venue, it didn't bother me to have a table in the back, I was just blown away to be there. Who cares it was 20 degrees outside and snowing.

Needles to say that show sealed the deal for me. I told my friends and spread the word.
Well time went by and my friend Doug got turned on to the ways of the great one known as Joe Bonamassa. He had got his hands on third row seats at the Pageant and sprung them on me.

Once again what a great experience!!

I'm still at a loss for words and just want to say thanks to Joe and the Band. You have got a fan for life.

I've got a great Wife and Friend.

Now that I said that. How do I get in on this Street Team? Also is there anyone who could share any pictures of the show? I didn't bring a camera.

Thanks again everyone.

Re: St. Louis Show @ The Pageant

One final thought on the Pageant show.

A big thanks to George Potsos, bass player for Honeytribe, who made a public announcement for Joe at one of our summer blues festivals about Joe Bonamassa.  George is a music icon in St. Louis, know just about everybody in music here in town, so when George says "Go see Joe Bonamassa at the Pageant",  people take note of that.

Also, thanks to all of the behind the scenes people who were instrumental in assisting with Joes success here !!!!!  they know who they are.

Re: St. Louis Show @ The Pageant

Fantastic set of reviews from everyone!  Very succint, and very sharp in the details department.  Stratcat, nicelly done.  The depth of your son's satisfaction upholding that age old truth that "Dad's always right" proved silently (well musically) by a third party....priceless!  Bartdude thanks for commenting & coming out of hibernation. Fan those feathers to boost the lift of the wing and get higher and continue to bring some more passengers on this journey.  Asspadtycoon, you are another in what appears to be a fast-growing (in leaps & bounds might I say) trend of father & son together at concerts, appears the generation gap may have it's own "Bridge To Better Days".  Jim's description is accurate regarding standing waves which involves phase cancellations and also phase enhancments, hence "doubling" volume...Kat & jim your review is awesome and entertainng, makes me feel right at home like I was in a seat there.  I think the May Day guitar stacatto morse code sound blast would be disruptive to Joe playing "Sloe Gin" live, definitely a rapid & extreme change in playing technique tha might sound great but throw tempo / timing off if not executed perfectly...just opinion..."THAT LOOK"...Rocket endorsed for "shut up now", not just a simple to understand "shhhuusssh".  Especially when recording live for a future album release.  Speaking of "live" Misterlee you had a perfect position for relating to later on, moreso if something ends up ON the reording released.  I don't blame you, as close to the mix position as possible at every concert I ever attend is a must for me at some point of the evening (not just Joe, EVERY concert, theater, & club experience), many times I swoop on the seating there in larger arenas, or outdoors reserved seating, etc. Since so many want to be up front it's almost always easy too...Fingertip good to hear from you  man, hope you keep them & your mouse clicking right here every day (don't be shy)...Hotrod same goes for you thanks guys, hotroad you ought take up with the Aussie Dragster see what transpires as a Street (racing) Team...Patty & Rhonda have a sleepover like they are teenyboppers again!!! Rhonda, I know how much you did promoting and building that buzz & excitement level, and NOW you can take a little bow, a big one if you won't fall over...IF she does Patty get the picture please to go with those of your cartwheelies...

Rock On & Keep the Faith,

Re: St. Louis Show @ The Pageant

Your funny Jane, but thanks !  - No, George does not know who Rhonda is.  George used to be Tony C's bass player, till Devon nabbed him away.   We couldn't make it to the festival due to a family obligation, but we told Rhonda to go  tell George WE said  to do this for Joe. (we thought Devon might not do it, but knew George would)  And thanks Rhonda for being there to do that and she probably had her camera and got some great Honeytribe shots too.
WHY ? -  George sincerely loves Joe's work and admires his great talent.  and also thinks he is a truly amazing player, George saw Joe too at Finale's  on that cold, snowy January evening.  I have no doubt now that St. Louis has finally caught onto Joe.  These fans are loyal and they'll be back for more, and they'll all bring two more friends and so on and so on.... Joe is home free now on this front.  He has definately turned the corner in St. Louis.   He'll sell out the Pageant from now on, and bag the amount of compensation he deserves from playing bigger venues.

BTW- was perusing some of Joe's upcoming venue to look for possible future ones.  I see Joe is heading your way.  Looked up Ram's head venue.  Yep, I can see why it rocks.  It looks like a very fine venue.  Lucky for those attending.    One day soon, we'll have more time to do more road trips.  Ram's head looks travel worthy to me/ a safe bet.

Have a great show there Jane.  See you at one someday.

Kat & Jim

Re: St. Louis Show @ The Pageant

Rocket:  I hope you like the waffle and thank you for the critique of our reviews.  I write "off the cuff" and emotionally.  I don't pre-write or even barely bother to check my spelling, or sentence structure, etc.. etc., etc.  (king & I - quote)  When this ceases to be fun for us, that's when we back off.  So far, so good.  Obviously, I was speaking figuratively on the Mayday Mayday request. just fyi.   We all know that Rhonda did a wonderful job. That goes without saying.  George went somewhat out on a limb with what he did, maybe even risking his job.  It was one of those BIG things that got lost in the shuffle and overlooked.  Without definitive evidence to the contrary, it is most likely that the volume of ticket sales came from a variety of sources.   It all added value and it all had impact and in the final analysis, goals were met.    I like posters.  Posters are fun.  Testimonials, in my opinion, are simply more powerful.  Joe has paid his dues in this city. He's been through here again and again working the smaller venues.  There are no shortcuts, though, we all wish there were.  Again, in the end, Joe wins.  His method is hard work, and hard work, I believe will always win !!   He has worked the St. Louis market over, aparently, since 2001, and it finally has taken root here for him.   Hey, it's the midwest,  usually last on board the train.  We'll let everyone else test the markets for us first.  Hence the term, Missouri, The Show Me State.  Take Care.

See Ya'll round the bend !!!

Smiley Pies & round of drinks !

Kat,

I wrote down the information for George regarding Joe's show and did ask him if he or Devon would announce it. I saw George show the paper to Devon and ask him, Devon nodded yes. I sure would have felt bad if it would have caused problems for George. After Devon's set I went to where he was signing CD's to personally thank him for announcing the show. He said no problem and asked if I knew that Joe had played on his CD Torch. He had very kind words regarding Joe. I told Devon that I was now a fan of theirs and would be seeing them again soon.
