" - The purists say this about me all of the time. “He’s not really blues.” I agree. I’m not really blues, I’m not really anything. I’m a genre within a genre. I toe the line between rock, blues, and singer-songwriter and that resonates to a larger audience. If I played Chicago blues all night or if I played straight-up rock it wouldn’t be what it is. The variety makes ... I think helps it become more marketable. Then there’s the other guy! The other guy is a character within my personality. There’s the all-day guy, and then there’s the other guy who dresses up in a suit and gets up there to try to entertain people. Me personally, I’m just a pretty shy, basic person who just likes to play guitar. There are two different sides to my personality. It’s really something that quite frankly, has worked. I can’t think about it too much because they like the guy in the suit. It is what it is. "
" -We’ve been playing the Beacon Theatre for 10 years. It’s home. We did Radio City. We did Carnegie. I like the Beacon. A 2,500 seat theater is something I’m set up for. I like the sound. I like being able to look people in the eye and it not being a black hole."
In depth interview covering future projects, philosophy of his approach, and tips to players including his top 10 solos.

"toying with the idea of goinjg back to Marshalls"
One would think he’d have that tone in his head sorted by now.
It varies often.
“What I’m hoping to accomplish at Abbey Road, is to get the British blues DNA infused into the songs,” said the guitarist of a batch of tunes he’s worked on with artists like blues guitarist and Whitesnake songwriter Bernie Marsden, Cream collaborator Pete Brown and Nashville artist James House. “There’s always a bit of that energy of the city seeping into the recording. It’s having that effect on the music – which is the only reason why you ship all your gear over there and set up camp in the world’s most expensive city. Financially, it’s gonna be an extremely expensive record for us to make. But it’s also going back to the original point of betting on yourself and going the extra mile. Can we record it down the street in Nashville at Ocean Way? Yeah. Brilliant studio. But it may not have that extra 5% that Abbey Road is gonna give it.” https://www-forbes-com.cdn.ampproject.o … himself%2F

" But for his next solo studio effort - his 14th overall - he’s going back to his roots in the most direct way yet, with an album that is an unapologetic ode to the British blues-rock he’s always pointed to as his first and foremost influence.
“It’s very purpose-based, and maybe a bit more raw and rock than people normally associate with me,” he explains.'
"in the end, Bonamassa says, the goal with each new album and project is to “continue to push yourself on an artistic level. You have to ask, ‘What can I do differently?’ ‘How can I challenge myself and the listener?’ You have to dig deep.” https://jbonamassa.com/features/2020/guitarworld-qa/

Yayyy!
Really interesting interview - talking points: touring 2020 - not going to happen ( bummer ), Bloodline - sooo interesting ( Jane - you got to listen ), BCC - I thought so , but as the world is changing so rapidly - so hoping for a BCC show, my bucket list. Bernie Marsden and White Snake connection answer - I always wandered ( Bernie co-wrote a majority of music on Abbey Road Album?... )
And Abbey road album is going to be very personal... October... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8axqJ8ISnsA - disapointed about interview's low sound quality, but for a bonanerd it is a gem.
I've listened to a lot of Joe's interviews, and this one is in my top 10, no, top 5 - he talks a lot about his childhood and the beginning of his career, but together with watching the changes and clouds and brights of his face it gives you a rare glimpse into real Joe, however still illusive but so fascinating, Joe with a small part of his mask coming off. Bonanerds - aka me: link to watch and rewatch https://www.facebook.com/JoeBonamassa/v … 781052099/
https://player.siriusxm.com/query/Joe%20Bonamassa - again, fantastic interview with Eddie Trunk. Important piece of info - there is not going to be a Fall tour, the band is getting together in October and recording a pay per view concert with songs from Joe's new album. New BCC album writing is pushed to 2022. In January of 2021 Joe will start writing his new album that will include some songs from Abbey Road studio recording, that are not going to be on album #14.
Sizzler with Joe Bonamassa - Joe teaches Music Journalist and TV Presenter, Kylie Olsson how to play the guitar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hubFrhrhgXQ
FYI, if it wasn't called out above, Eddie Trunk's interview w/ Joe (at least a good chunk of it) was on last week's podcast. You can get it through all the usual podcast services, or podcastone. Definitely worth checking out if you don't have Sirius XM.
