Pantera’s Suicide Note, Pt. 1.  Which then segues into Suicide Note, Pt. 2.  Which has to be the craziest pairing of songs ever.

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

I looked up 'blistering solo' in the dictionary and lo and behold there was a picture of Eric Gales. I have to listen to this at least 3 or 4 times a year to remind me just how good he was at a very young age, here he's about 17 or 18. I really don't know who is on bass but you do have Hubert H BOMB Crawford on the drums, he can play. Eric got a lot of help on the vocals, but obvious he needed no help on guitar. Absolutely one of the best Beatles covers ever

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

One of Eric's friends from Memphis, the Mr Ping Rose with Toby Lee on lead. Toby has played with Buddy Guy, and just played with Joe B last year at Royal Albert Hall, he can play ya for sure. He just turned 15 this past January

True story, son and I were hanging out back at one of Eric's shows at Minglewood in Memphis, maybe 10 or 12 years ago. I had more than a few beers and decided to challenge Ping to a trivia question. I offered $100 to he and his friends with whoever could come up with the answer. The question was, who played slide guitar for Lynyrd Skynyrd ? Damn, Ping came up with the answer Gary Rossington. Without hesitating I reached in my pocket and forked over that Franklin. I learned a very good lesson, don't challenge a musician on their knowledge of music. He remembered me at Eric's Transformation release party / concert and came up to give me big hug, it meant a lot

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

Seems like I have a story of some sort for nearly every artist I have seen live, or in this case not seen. Yeah I'm old as dirt. I was living in Houston in the early 80s and on a Friday night my wife said she was going out with friends to a bar that had live music and did I want to go. I was tired and opted to stay home. The next morning she told me all about the night out and I asked, well who was playing ? .............. and she answered it was some guy named Eric Johnson. Shortly thereafter Cliffs of Dover hit the airwaves

I forget sometimes just how good he is, how incredibly creative, and that tone he gets that defies logic

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

incredible find here, mostly by accident, intended to broaden your music horizon .............. we have Col Bruce Hampton on guitar and vocals, Jimmy Herring from Widespread Panic on lead guitar, Oteil Burbridge of the Allman Bros on bass, and Susan Tedeschi leads it all off. Damn, I just wish there were more. RIP Bruce

oh dear, I left out Jeff Sipe the drummer from Leftover Salmon, that featured Warren Haynes and Jimmy among others

Re: What song are you listening to right now?

Manuel Gales is Eric's half brother, he passed on in 2002 but his music lives on. Eric was kind to post this and rework the audio. Manuel's two favorite guitarists were Jimi Hendrix and Albert King, hence the stage name

this is not a misprint, this is Little Jimmy's twin brother playing with Eric. I didn't even know he could play but he's been on tour helping Eric for the past year or so, I saw him at the concert in Birmingham AL. What a talented family they are
