Topic: Happy Music

In light of the corona-virus I thought music will get us through this.  Something to raise your spirits.

Here's my first effort for this thread...

Re: Happy Music

Well, I'll warn you now; this is going to be so "cheesy" I may have to change my name to "King Burträsk"

My partner just got a half-speed vinyl remaster of ABBA at Wembley 1979, so if you are self-isolating, close the curtains and revel in the kitch… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqLkyWehNqs

Takes you back to a simpler time of square televisions and black and white.. Folk meets pop etc. Nonsensical but nostalgic at least.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yafExNy8HY    big_smile

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Happy Music

Duly warned Mike!  Not to be sexist, but I have never met a women that didn't love Abba.  Both my wives have them at the top of their lists.  Marshall Crenshaw covered their "Loving me, Loving You" that I'd like to sing along to driving through the mountains of Tennessee to meet my honey in Huntsville or Nashville.  I confess to loving them too.
I was going to link that song, but the sound's not great and instead chose this one for my happy song for St. Paddy's day.  Mr. Crenshaw is an all time fave of mine.

Back in 1982 at my future wife's apartment and waiting for her to get ready to go out, this song came on MTV or VH1.  It seemed to capture the moment my thoughts for my new girlfriend.  34 years later I finally was able to see him with my second wife and he was still impressive.  Cindy now loves him too and once the madness fades into the sunset we plan to see him again.  His Field Day album is in my top five all time albums.

Wonder how much longer we'll be able to be "sitting in a sleazy snack-bar sucking sickly sausage rolls..."

I stand corrected Barbie.  Thanks for putting me in my place and putting a smile on my face which is the intent of this thread.
I could now say every man wished he could play the guitar as well as Jimi or Joe, but I'll stay my hand this time....

Re: Happy Music

Couldn’t we just have Joe’s studio album released a bit earlier given that nobody will be seeing him live for a while - please J&R, that would make all of us happy.

Lester...

Re: Happy Music

Been hearing this song in TCM promos and decided to look into the singer.  Found out it's Brittany Howard from Alabama Shakes..."Stay High".  This is a very uplifting song by a virtuoso talent.  This is definitely the best song I've heard from Brittany and a happy song for this thread.
