Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

The young arms are tired, our ss is still on dl, the hitters aren’t and its been fun.
The bright spot is Franmil Reyes, who has been parking some and is becoming a good batter.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I saw where Paddack had a very good game Monday, so did Soroka at SF but they got to our bullpen last night and walked off thanks to crappy pitching by Luke Jackson. Bravos did go get another reliever to help but right now the pen is our Achilles heal

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Welcome to the big leagues Austin Riley. Braves brought him up last week or so and he had a 3 run dinger last night at SF. He has 30 AB so far, hitting .367 with 11 hits, (1) 2B and (4) HRs. But also 10 SO which is too high. He plays 3B naturally but has subbed out in LF in most games .............. one more with SF this afternoon, would like to have the 3-1 split

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Wow, every now and then you get a laugher. By the time the Friars had finished pounding the Blue Jays pitching staff into a pulp, the Toronto catcher had taken the mound. 7 dingers in a 19-4 rout. They even gave up the dh to keep the reliever Maton in and he got his first hit. 5 straight and keeping pace with the Dodgers, though I doubt they’ll catch them, or match up with them yet. Quantrill got his first win with a solid 7 just 60 miles from where he grew up. His father pitched 6 seasons for Toronto. Now if we could get that SS back with a good hammy. Our $30M 3rd baseman is playing SS and doing the best he can, and better than most, but it’s not where he belongs and it shows.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

just wanted you to know that I'm voting the 5 times a day limit, but I only have two Braves outfielders to vote for since Inciarte is out of the picture ............... that extra 5 votes per day is going to Franmil due to the way he torched our pitching ...... keep voting, it could make a difference down the stretch

Thanks for the support. Hit the skids lately with the kids making rookie mistakes and hitters in slumps. Young arms getting tired, expected, but still a letdown when they all hit at once. It’s a long season.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Wow. Tired arms, thin air, a huge outfield, and sluggers galore. The Friars locked horns with the Rockies for a 4 game set and earned a split. After the dust cleared, a 90 year record set by the Dodgers and Phillies at 88 for total runs in a series was blasted with the teams totting up 92. ERA’s and individual stats soared. Hunter Renfroe hit 5 homers in the last two games. The game yesterday culminated with Stanton, a Padres starter who’d pitched the day before, coming in to pinch hit with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 9th. The Rockies Manager had walked 2 intentionally with a man on 3rd to get to the pitcher’s spot, but the Pads’ manager had a better one. He can hit pretty good for a pitcher, a 270 average, and the Rockies closer was trying to hit the corners. Stanton was taking all the way and drew a full count walk to force in the winning run at 13-12 putting the finish on a come from behind rally. “ I can’t catch up to that 98 mph fastball, so I wasn’t going to swing at one” he quipped.

Wild and crazy bb!
Nice streak the Braves have going!

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

If you get a chance to watch a Padres game broadcast, do. Fernando Tatis is exceeding all expectations. At 20 years of age, some are already calling him the best player in baseball. He does things no one thinks possible with his speed and daring on base. He’s hitting pretty good too. His rookie stats as a 20 year old put him in some rarefied company. Only 13 players have better stats in their year of 20 in the history of the game, and they're all in the HOF, and most already had a season or two in.
Our rookie slugger Franmil Reyes had another 2 homer game last night and is up to 24. I’d like to see him in the dinger contest. Don’t pitch him low and away, he hits those out too.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I agree Rick, Tatis has incredible skills, I dont know if he was added to the allstar game (way behind on just about everything these days) but MLB needs to promote these kids. One kid who didnt make it was Bryce Harper, he will break the record for strike outs in a season, way over rated!

Who wants Madbum?.....we are listening to all offers (the Giants that is).....we want a power hitter with ANY pop, throw in a young arm too.....better trade him to a NL team, yall know Bum likes to hit taters when he is pitching roll

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I don't think my Braves are in a position to take him, Bryse Wilson had a good outing last week and rest of the starters are set including Keuchel who got his first win for us yesterday. I'm really looking forward to the 2nd half, still pinching myself over the first half stats, highest win % by a Braves team since 2003. Also looking to get into SD next series, was glad to see them take 3 of 4 vs the Doyers

He’s seen his best days Shredit. We’ve got hitters to spare if your guys want to carry his pay. Local prognosticators are saying our closer Yates, 30 saves in the 1st half and our only All Star, should be trade bait. It better be for some darned good starters or no deal. Half way and .500 for the Friars, could have been much worse, and 3 straight over the Dodgers in their yard was sweet to finish on after stubbing the toe vs the Giants!
I read the All Star game will use some weird tiebreaker deal if the game goes long and start each side with a man on 2nd to shorten the game? Might cut into a rerun of Dancing With the Stars??

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

I think Bum has one good run left in him......the aura around this guy is special, he is a redneck badass, I would put him in the same "Im cocky like Nolan Ryan" was back in the day.....the Giants have learned a lesson, you cant reward all your players because of a couple of world series.....by next year the entire roster will be different, good bye to all of them, Posey, Crawford, Pablo, Belt, and the rest....and last but not least, bring in the fences, we aint nothing but a bunch of Punch and Judies sad

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

that was a nice sweep by the Bravos at SD but I tell you Rick they have a lot of upside potential, they were pesky to say the least and Tatis looks like the real deal ............ Munoz throws as hard as anybody we have faced this year. Now it's off to the Brewers for 3 and then back home for the Nats. For once I will be pulling for the Doyers since they go into Philly tonight

That was tough to take. The Friars had their chances, but that bullpen is pretty thin... Braves are very good.
