Topic: Christmas songs

Hi, I am looking for some great rocking Christmas songs.
I have a Christmas party coming up at a bar with a juke box. I usually play some tunes on it. Most of the good ones are two credits...if you can find them in the system but thats ok.
I know the Joe ones, and Ho Ho Hoey
but I am hoping to be prepared instead of spending a lot of time searching - although in the past that helped me when I didn't know many people at this party / have many people to talk to. Iknow more people now but I also want to ACE this thing big_smile so I can pat myself on the back afterwards.
anyway any cool Christmas tunes or versions you like.
prefer rock...but country and maybe one or two bluesy ones would be ok
thanks

Re: Christmas songs

just about anything with Brian Setzer and his orchestra .......... on the jazzy side I like Joe Pass' Six String Santa but this is probably too laid back for your crowd, you don't want to put them to sleep

Re: Christmas songs

Gary Hoey has a ton of great instrumental Christmas music - it was how I first heard of him.

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Re: Christmas songs

well the party was great but my DJ plan didn't go so well. Its now an app so I didn't see a way to log in online and make a playlist but if you have a smart phone you can pay and play right from your phone.
i got to party late and had a 'helper' picking out songs with me....couldnt' find the Joe Christmas songs, Merry Axemas or any of the other cool ones i thought I found last year. Thank goodness for Ho Ho Hoey
but leave it to bar people....within half an hour someone is putting on irritating dance music overtop my Christmas stuff lol so i threw in some non Christmas Joe before I left to compensate

lol i put on the chipmunks Christmas song first and that did not go over well, the volume got turned down on me big_smile
and also the Twisted Sister song I had found

Re: Christmas songs

A little late for your do Jane, but there's still a few more sleeps before the big day so folk can still enjoy these; from a friend on another forum-

"Here’s a few of Xmas songs I like, songs that you don’t find on the usual radio playlists.

First up, Paul Liddell, recorded this the year after Coldplays Xmas number, and I thought, how do I sell this to Coldplay! Anyway, I posted this on Face Book last night and it is now on two playlists for Radio shows next week!
I give you Paul Liddell and ‘Christmas’.

Second up is a great singer called Si Cranstoun, he did the Blues Caravan last year but his voice comes from the Jackie Wilson era. Great retro video. Check out his busking videos as The Duallers too.
Si Cranstoun with A Twisting Christmas, might want to kick your clogs off for this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bys-OE_C7lQ

And with tongue placed firmly in cheek, check out this mock rock Christmas song from White Pigeon, fronted by Chris Nugent, (and wrote / directed) who also drums with Marcus Malone
White Pigeon with baby Jesus (Chris stars as Baby Jesus too !!??
