I attended F and S. Great street hang with the usual suspects lining up starting around 1pm. Fans flew in from all over the country and it was really nice to have met some I’d known on social media for years. Saturday was different with all the best seats reserved with the front and center seats filled with what looked like Blues from the Schools kids of 10 or so. We that stood in line to film from the front were put in the back and side tables. I got lucky and shot from a seat by the door that had a clear view of all 5 players at once. Very nice to see Renato’s keyboard wizardry up close and Mike’s fantastic bass in the center stage. Saturday was the best imo with the energy level of the band off the scale. Joe brought Amos and his new (old) dual humbucker telecaster. He said he picked it up for less than a new one and it played better than all his others.
I will get the vids up in a bit and they should be different with some new sight lines. Linda and Natasha got adverse seating with obstructed views so I got lucky.
Rick.

Sounds like you had a blast

The reserved seating is interesting because I had tickets for all shows and they did tell me I have reserved front row. I thought wow but unfortunately I could not go and gave them away.

Their policy is supposedly first come, first served (or first severed in this case), but so is their policy for “Absolutely” no audio/video recording (DEFINITELY enforced for Steve Lukather shows).  So, all in all it is what it is...

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party 5 nights at Baked Potato Feb 1-5, 2018

So this was my first time at the Baked Potato and also to see RCFP.  I purchased my 3 tickets for 2/1/2018 as soon as I saw the post which was the first day.  After that there was a 4th person who really wanted to go so I was able to find an additional “ticket” from Rocket.  Two of us waited outside in line so that we could get good seats because it was our understanding that it was first come first serve.  BTW the doorman comes out with a list to check your name and how many are in your party before they open the door.  When the time came to be seated we were told that there were 3 seats (my original purchase) available on one side or the other even though there were seats right in front or just behind so when I asked about those he said something about they were being held for a certain amount of people.  It all seemed really strange.  Luckily we were seated right next to Joe but, the other side of that was we never really got to watch him play we just saw his back.  We did get to talk to him and Mike Merritt.  Then when the other 2 people in our party showed up one could sit with us but we were told the other had to sit in the seat that Rocket had so graciously surrendered.  Then we found out that Natasha had been promised that seat so it was a real mess, we didn’t really care where the 4th sat but with their seating policy we were told she had to sit in the seat that had been surrendered.  By this time I was a nervous wreck.  As it turned out there was a stool right by where we were sitting and the doorman finally let our 4th sit there.  Which we were very happy about because Natasha finally got a seat where she was able to take her amazing videos.  I don’t know why you are lead to believe the admission is first come first serve when you have a doorman controlling seating.  In any event this was the first time I got to see RCFP am hoping to do it again next time I’ll do things a little differently and if they play more than one night will book at least two.

I’d found a bag of Rock Candy on a stick which I brought for the band specifically Tal and was able to give it to him before we left.

Again I would like to thank Rocket he was as gracious as any human being could be.  And for Rick who helped me in the beginning.

Show was amazing!

The seating that night was different than any other time I’ve been there. It looks like the Hollywood crew is using their pull and they operate by a different set of rule$ now. So it goes. Nice while it lasted.

Thank you Rick for your post at least now I know it wasn't just the first night that they had their new seating policy.  I was very disappointed by how it was handled. I sure hope they took good care of you.

We ended up with good seats at the table by Neto’s setup with a view of all the players. Lucky!

the front rows were reserved for some kids in their early teens. 2 boys and a girl with escorts.  I had a chat and they are big fans of Joe. Possibly BITS or KTBA work by Joe? I was stoked to see them in the club and got them some earplugs before the music started, explaining that it was going to be very loud. They wore them and one of the moms came up and thanked me after the show. I’d sit outside if more kids did that.

I talked with the Dad. It was a family. The father was into Joe and has gone to shows and has had his guitar signed by Joe. He brought his whole family and reserved the front row for them by buying a bunch of tickets all at once.

EXACTLY!  What better way to yield than to incorporate into our family an entire family at a time! big_smile. I think the kids were overwhelmed at times, which to me means Daddy-O news ‘zactly how a family incursion should be electrocuted... perfecrtadameantadodattoyas...

Amen I agree I would have done the same. We all need to get more of the young guns to these shows. You rock Rick

Re: Rock Candy Funk Party 5 nights at Baked Potato Feb 1-5, 2018

I saw one of the kids still trying to plug the ears from time to time.  I am not certain of my interpretations of that one’s body language translations.   But I seemed to get the impression of that one sometimes wishing to be looking at some sort of screen (small or large with hand operated devices) instead...of course could’ve been fascination with the many interesting posters in the room. big_smile
