Re: King King - feat. Alan & Stevie Nimmo

- Really looking forward to seeing the man in a skirt smile for the first time in May, - with Dan Palansky. Been looking at a lot of live stuff on YouTube, - really like what I see in terms of performance but also how Alan himself comes across, - looks like he loves what he does.

Re: King King - feat. Alan & Stevie Nimmo

From Facebook for those who don't

Ok friends, we promised you an update on my progress.

Here it is.....

I have seen my ENT specialist and he had the camera down my throat to take a look at what condition my vocal cords were in. Unfortunately there was still a good bit of inflammation and redness. I've also been working with a vocal coach to build strength and stamina to aid with my recovery. Unfortunately both vocal coach and doctor felt the same, that I should avoid singing for at least another 4 weeks.

So, here's what we're going to do!

We will be re-scheduling most of the dates on the UK tour in to January, February and March, however, there is some good news We will be committing to the remaining 4 shows of the UK tour, beginning with Edinburgh on the 25th November, continuing through Chester, Clitheroe and wrapping up with a show in London. (All rescheduled shows are now announced on our website and included on the flyer with this post)

So if you have a ticket for any of the November shows that are due to be rescheduled then your ticket will still be valid for the Jan/Feb/ March dates.

I can only apologise to you once again for this but as over 1000 of you have already pointed out in your wonderfully kind messages previously... my health and future prospects must come first. I really hope you understand and aren't too disappointed. I can honestly say that you guys have been so great through all of this and no band could ask for better fans.

Anyone of you that know me personally knows that this comes from my heart and I thank you for your patience and friendship.

I've been extremely lucky to have the support from my King King boys and we all hope that you'll be waiting for us when we return! We'll keep you up to date with what's going on in the meantime in the studio and we may even post up some rehearsals and various things like that to keep you in the loop!

So, thanks again, and for those who have their tickets for this years shows .. we'll see you in Edinburgh on the 25th, Chester on the 26th, Clitheroe on 27th and London on the 29th. These will be the last U.K. dates of 2016 so let's sell them out and make them 4 nights to remember!

All the best,

Alan Nimmo

On the eve of the release of the latest King King album, Exile & Grace seems there's word that Bob Fridzema has stepped down from keyboards and Johnny Dyke has stepped back in.

Re: King King - feat. Alan & Stevie Nimmo

This is not a blues album but a rocker.  Pretty good as usual by one of the better UK bands.

Re: King King - feat. Alan & Stevie Nimmo

Whitley Bay Playhouse - 11th May 2018.

If it seems like a while since I last saw King King, well, it hasn’t been as long as it first appears. I actually caught them back in March 2015, but to be honest, compared to previous shows, that was like a decaf version; something was definitely lacking and I came away from the show early.

So then, I can’t say that it wasn’t without trepidation that I found myself going along to Whitley Bay to see them back in action; to see if the magic was still there. After all, Alan has had his battles with throat problems and they found themselves with a temporarily vacant keyboard stool. Come on though, this is King King, and there’s no way Alan would get on stage less than 100% and while there is a slight change in the timbre of his voice, it is to the better, like Pau Rodgers in his prime. And as for the keyboard post, rather than bring in a new name, the band has gone back to its past and Johnny Dyke once again is the wizard in charge.

As for the overall show, well one of the biggest venues I’ve seen them play, but Alan has that easy knack of connecting with the entire audience and making it feel like one of their more intimate early Blues Club shows. if he has any nerves or tension they must disappear as soon as he hits the stage and the way he beams after each song, knowing that he’s given it his all and raises his arms as if the catch the approving roar. No doubts about it, this was the full King King with extra espresso shot, digging back through their now growing back-catalogue and getting rocky again with the Exile & Grace album. Wayne & Lindsay make a mighty backline and Johnny seems to have had no problems picking up where he left off as it were.

So, hopefully the Arc show was an aberration, but on leaving the Playhouse, the majority of opinion was that this was one of their best gigs, ever. Sorry I doubted - see you next time.

Re: King King - feat. Alan & Stevie Nimmo

Might be old news to a number of folks here,  but just in case; Lindsey Coulson is stepping down from King King at the end of the current tour citing family reasons. As well as bass duties, he'll also be handing over the management reins to allow the band to continue further afield.

New bassist introduced at Glasgow end-of-tour gig - Zander Greenshields, also did a couple of numbers with the guys.

Another change in the line-up; Wayne Proctor has left, "to pursue other interests" and in comes Scot's born Andrew Scott.

The re-jigged band are getting a road work-out through Spring, round Europe before Summer studio work for album #5
