Topic: Forum Code Update

Hey all, JBWM here.

Yesterday (Oct. 04, 2016) we had some forum outages. After a bunch of deep digging into the problem we found that the server this forum lives on is constantly updated and patched, but the code for the forum is version 1.1 from 2011. It's designed to work with technologies that are long since antiquated. This means we're being forced to upgrade to version 5.5. We're taking all steps to properly backup things so we don't lose any posts, but it might blink on and off again during this process.

We would be doing this server update today, but our offices are located in South Florida and if you hadn't been following it, we've got ourselves a hurricane. This office is in the evac zone so we're battening down the hatches as we speak. If there are problems with the forums in the next few days, we apologize, but not much can be done right now. We'll do the update early next week.

We're all fine here after Matthew, it hit a few hours North of us. But man, were we worried for a bit.
I restuck the interview thread. Thanks for letting me know. I popped in last week, looked around and thought old topics were ready to be unstuck. In fact, with the interview one, I thought I scanned it to see if there were any new interviews and didn't remember seeing any so I figured it was outdated and unstuck it.

Thanks for the tip.

The forum seems to now be running well on the newest version. If you didn't notice, that was our point!

Just had a fan report signup doesn’t work, the recaptcha is inactive. Tried myself and it’s not working.

Hey Rick,

So thanks for pointing this out. You were right, this forum only supports the old version of ReCaptcha which has been outmoded everywhere. There's no way to upgrade it so we just had to remove it. Here's to hoping it doesn't increase spam. Help us by flagging spam when you see it.
