Topic: Joe sitting in with Groove Legacy

What a great night at the Baked Potato with Joe and the guys from Groove Legacy. Groove Legacy is a Groove/Jazz band put together by Paulie Cerra and Billy Steinway. Kirk Fletcher had been part of the group but recently moved to Europe, so Joe sat played in Kirk's place.  And it was KILLER!! Here's a couple samples I took from that great gig!

Re: Joe sitting in with Groove Legacy

Thanks!  I love sharing these wonderful gigs for all who aren't able to be there!!  You know some artists think videos like these will cut into their income. But Joe's fans are only encouraged by these to go to any and all gigs that they can get to in order to see Joe play, because he's always better live!! smile

Re: Joe sitting in with Groove Legacy

As Linda said, it was a great night of music. Just plain fun all around. Definitely worth the quick trip to LA.  Joe just hanging like he wanted back in the corner or "in the hedges" as he told us, playing solos on some songs and just rhythm on others. No stress to be the front man. This band is filled with top notch players and it is such a blast to hear them play this groovin stuff. Some blues, some more jazzy. Paulie's got a great voice and really compliments the whole thing. Took me a while to render all the videos since I wanted to improve the lighting and layer in Phil's audio. Wanted them to look and sound their best. Not easy when you are dealing with a very dimly lit room and red lights, but that is the charm of the place and I do so love the Baked Potato. No other place quite like it.

Ain't No Way https://youtu.be/nVkg_LguJg4  (Joe solos)

Blues Deluxe https://youtu.be/6oDngeudlR4   Nice to hear Joe sing this one. It's been a while since we've heard it and it was a great version with solos by Paulie, Billy and Sam as well as Joe

Capetown to Memphis https://youtu.be/8MRtYjoKcmY  (Joe solos)

I Wanna Love You https://youtu.be/X6ftAA861Bg  (Joe solos)

Sweetness https://youtu.be/-tC12x1FZPo  (Joe solos)

Odd Couple https://youtu.be/jQoAFJU7li8

Memphis 40 oz Hang https://youtu.be/v2HwwYcd4jA  (Joe solos)

Lolly's Dream https://youtu.be/KBrBxBmJ0VY

At Night In The City  https://youtu.be/vmHO1CtjMXI   I love on this one how Joe is in the back hidden behind Andrew Lippman, the trombonists, yet when Joe starts off the song with those first few notes, you know immediately it is him. Joe's tone and sound is immediately recognizable and anyone who goes around saying he doesn't have his own sound, and there are unfortunately plenty who seem to think this, obviously has never paid attention to his playing.

We missed you and Helen. Not quite the same at the Spud without you two there.
