Topic: Music Ground UK

All, (Joe if you're monitoring this)...

Please can someone explain why they do not use Music Ground to purchase vintage equipment??

I understand Joe used to frequent the store some years ago... and ironically one of his Dumbles is for sale on their site... yet Joe has not got one good word to say about them... what happened Joe?? Did you get scammed??

I know all about the Adda (Italy) scandal and the subsequent convictions... so for that reason alone they are not likeable characters. I totally get that, and would be reason enough to stay clear purely on character assessment.

BUT... do you really believe ALL of their vintage equipment they have for sale is fake?? After inspecting some detailed pictures of a vintage Marshall I cannot, and I mean CANNOT, see anything fake... all of the components are correct and serial numbers all check out...

So my question is...

Do you believe everything they are currently selling are fake knock-offs and hash ups? Do you think they would go back to their old tricks after the recent scandal and subsequent convictions?

I would like genuine and honest feedback preferably from people who have dealt with them before the Italy scandal and subsequently (ie recently).

It's just so hard these days to know who to trust and there are so many varying opinions online

I was hoping Joe could chime in here because I know he has dealt with them in the past AND one of his Dumbles (allegedly) is for sale on their site?! Yet Joe has not got one nice thing to say about them... just look at his responses to other threads when their name comes up...

Thanks guys, your feedback would be very much appreciated!

Rory

Joe sold his Dumble's according to one of the recent online interviews.. if they show up in a shop for sale.. it's not Joe's doing.. it's someone else.

I've sold lots of stuff over the years and I don't go looking to see if stuff I've gotten rid of is being sold else where..

I'm sure doesn't either.

Absolutely zero ties/connection to them.

Just a genuine collector of vintage equipment wishing to listen to others who have had dealings with the good the bad and the ugly.

Not a fan of being ripped off that's all. Churns my stomach.

All I wanted was some feedback from people who have dealt with these guys and who can actually share some real evidence rather than hear say.

What's the smell? It's actually the smell of an honest dude who is looking for some genuine muso friends to help him out. I would like to think this community can look out for one another and share experiences (good and bad) so that we may save someone else from falling foul and getting scammed of their hard earned cash

By the sounds of things it appears Joe himself may have fallen into this trap... so it even happens to the best of us...

Re: Music Ground UK

I bought a guitar at their Leeds shop many years ago and had no problems at all.  From reading the subsequent 'issues' that the shop has had, I think I dealt with the son.

Guitar I bought was not vintage, just a Les Paul Standard.  There does seem to have been a lot of discussion on places like this about the issues numerous people seem to have had when buying vintage stuff, so on the premise of no smoke without fire, I would avoid the place.

That's the rub RoryJoeMoore! It can happen to anyone.  I meant no personal offense to you, only relating to the obvious disdain Joe had held.  If the business isn't up to snuff and the past stinks, welllllll....the term recidivism comes to mind.  Kind of like expecting a criminal with a career of evil to go straight upon release-sure it can happen, but not necessarily likely.  Surely to Joe there's a decent way to do good business, and many ways not to.  I'd take away that there's other, better options.

Reform takes a lot of personal scrutinizing, with humility and pride bring mostly (not entirely) mutually exclusive to making better.  Still, the benefit of the doubt can be hard to offer, but yet again the boy did finally yell "Wolf!" appropriately, but it was too late.  Oft times in business (and personal relationships), one only gets one chance................

Welcome by the way, RoryJoeMoore, great username! wink

Thanks Rocket!

Re: Music Ground UK

I can only comment on my own experience, but when I was younger, and much more naive I was ripped off by them when I sold a Les Paul I had.

I can't remember the exact model, but I needed money and they told me it was worth 900 if I sold it to them. This was in the days when the Internet wasn't as useful as it is today so I didn't know any better and accepted their offer.

A couple of weeks later and I saw the guitar on sale for well over 2k. Now I'm all for businesses making a profit, but that's just too big a jump in price.

So yeah...I never bought from them again.
