Re: Any PRS Fans?

Yeah I wouldn't be opposed to getting another one someday - I did like it. But its hard to escape your usual haunts. I've had a long lasting love affair with Gibson SGs, and I have a difficult time fighting the allure when one becomes available...

Re: Any PRS Fans?

PRS fan?  Count me in.  I am particular to their singlecuts from 2000 to 2002, before the lawsuit by Gibson.  Every single PRS you pick up shows the quality and care which goes into every single guitar that comes out of their factory.  Aside from preferring the early singlecuts, I can't say there were any "good" years for PRS.  I am referring to the Les Paul Standards that were built during the mid to late 90s.  These guitars are known as having been built during the "good years" of Gibson.  Gee, what does say about later built Les Paul guitars?  Still, I have come across my share of wonderful Les Pauls built outside of the 90s versions.

The basic difference I have seen is Gibson can be a hit or miss.  PRS is a home run every time.  I'm not going to say which is better.  I am merely saying you can count on a PRS a little more than Gibson.  But, if you get your hands on one of the "good" Les Paul guitars then you are going to be playing one heck of a special guitar.  Well, that's my opinion.  I know not everyone will agree, but that's ok.  It's these differences that make the world an interesting place.  Oh, I almost forgot to mention the distaste I have for chambered Les Pauls.  If your singlecut guitar is too heavy, then play a strat.
