I'm new and posted my thoughts in the thread I started the other day (What am I in for Sunday night). This was a great show on many different levels. I'd be repeating what all of you know already. Joe is an outstanding musician and performer. Bravo! Many more shows are in my future. Thanks to all.
welcome to the forum. All of us feel the same way. Amazing musicians all of them!! Glad you got to see that level of talent perform live. The best part is most of the venues allow you an excellent view. I am counting down to Wednesday 11/21 Greensburg PA. Last live show I'll see for at least 5 months? they haven't yet posted the next US tour dates. What a dreary winter this will be...................
The New London show was a pleasant surprise. I've seen Joe 4 times in the last couple months and of course it was always the best shows. But after starting to feel a little "been there done that" creep in,last night was a refreshing change. Crosby had an edge to him with violin player and it was my first time seeing Sam Bush. That is one of the tightest bands around. But when Sam and Joe's band got together and finished the evening with a blistering set,it completely complimented the evening! Well one more Joe B road trip to Providence RI,then the long winter begins.
I echo your thoughts thestepchild - life is often predictable...too predictable at times. To show up at a concert and not know the script I think is very cool. Joe looked like he was having almost as much fun as Sam was last night. One observation during one of the dueling bass segments - I thought I caught the bass player for Sam "eyeing" Carmine - like you got to be kidding me! - How did you ever learn to play like that!
and Bogie during his dueling drum solo - he is amazing - when you compare two drummers side by side while they are both pounding at the same time - well you realize how talented Bogie is. Not to take anything away from Sam's band - they were excellent...just rare to compare live.
This sounds awesome. I sure hope somebody taped it!

I was at the New London show. For some reason my fifth row seats became second row when I found out they pushed out the stage three rows to accommodate the two bands. Then after Sam Bush played, the couple in front of us left! I guess they had no idea that they would be playing together after Joe's set. I had a full view of Joe's set. I felt it was very cut and dry. It felt as though he was just playing short and sweet versions of his songs in order to get to the two band jam. It didn't seem like he did many improvisations, or lengthy solos. Although it was a new experience to see him with Sam up on stage, I would opt for a Joe only show next visit. Joe's stage presence was so overpowering compared to Sam's, that it seemed a bit awkward at times with Joe playing Lucille, and Sam playing that kid's fender or whatever it was. Regardless, the show cast a new light on Joe's talents, and showed his adaptability, and readiness to jam at will. Sam's banjo player was a treat to watch. The song they played that he wrote was very jamming , and got everyone going. Let's not forget Crosby and his violin player. That is the first time I've seen him play with that guy, and it was very very good. I think newbies, and Joe regulars alike were pleasantly surprised with the intensity of the duet. Now I'll just have to wait patiently until next summer when hopefully Joe's tour will include some east coast dates local to me. I'm looking forward to the next version of just got paid-dazed-drum solo-dazed-just got paid that I get to see. Until then I'll just have to wake up dreaming of a Mountain time that is soon to come.

The New London show is really amazing. I always ready to join it. There are also many places to see in London with Family like Historical sites, Museums, The Tower of London, Harry Potter studio London or other things? It's best to get a guidebook to London and plan out what you want to see and what you can fit in.
