Topic: Hot August Blues - August 15, 2009

A posting on FB reminded me that it was 6 years ago today that a huge gathering of the Bonaclan from around the world got together for a very hot day of blistering music in Maryland.  Many of us started our special weekend at Cathy's enchanted forest (which it truly is) - and the spell carried over to one of the best days of music I have ever been a part of.  This event took place a few months after Joe's magical first Royal Albert Hall show and it almost seemed like an extension of that night.  (I think I traveled more miles that year than any other year of my life-and not just physically).

Lots of great bands, but of course this was the matinee we all came to see:  https://www.flickr.com/photos/24057301@ … 955097557/

Then the closer (featuring a guest appearance by someone we all know) wasn't too shabby:

And one of the best parts of the day?

When I think back to this day it causes me to reflect on how much my life has changed since that day back in September, 2004 when I first saw this guy playing (on the back of a flatbed truck in NH).  I have seen so many amazing shows and places, but also, and most importantly, have made so many wonderful friends because of that random chance of seeing someone playing Goldie, a Gigliotti and a Chandler on the back of a truck.  Thank you Joe for your wonderful music and for being the catalyst that has helped all this amazing-ness to happen. And thank you to all my  friends who have shared this wonderful journey with me - it would not have been the same without all of you.

"There's a lot of people that are in so much of a hurry to be, I guess, to be famous or that they don't want to take the time to learn to play and do all that. They'd rather just knock it down off a computer and maybe get on a game show and get famous..That's fine if that's what you want to do.

Very cool.  Thanks for sharing.  Don't know that I have seen pics of Joe in shorts before.  Now I know why. HAHA!!! Just kidding.

The only thing we deserve, is an opportunity.  Everything else has to be earned.

Interesting, Joe on stage in shorts and flip flops??? Not quite the suit look we're used to. Thanks for sharing!

Play some cards & drink black coffee,
How I’d love to see you smile....
