I can almost guarantee he will not start the season in the bigs.
Bringing him up a short while later will give ownership another year of control contractually.
I just can't imagine them giving that away...maybe they'll surprise me!
I'm surprised by some of the negative comments by celebrities on Will Farrell....I personally enjoyed it, lighten up peeps, it was for cancer funds
My Padres have revamped the whole deal. Picked up Kimbrel and Upton in a swap for a handful that never panned out in a last-minute blockbuster. The new ownership has loosened the pursestrings hoping to draw in the deflated Charger fans who are righteously pissed at the antics of the Spanos clan.
I'm looking forward to the new look. Afternoon opener up the road against those Fargin Doyers. Get them!

Welcome to a rebuilding year Tres. I know it well. Those guys we shipped may benefit from the change. I hope that the guys other teams found tradable to us pan out. Kemp could be the bat we've been hoping for. He wore us out and loves this park.

Well said. And ex-Royal James Shields gave you just what you hoped for today, but the bullpen couldn't hold it for him (I'll bet he misses the Royals bullpen already! 
)...
The team he was on last year (aka American League Champions) clobbered the White Sox 10-1 today, breaking an Opening Day losing streak that had reached six seasons. The American League's worst nightmare is KC pairing their pitching and defense up with even a league-average offense, and the offense was far better than league-average today...
God, how I love baseball season...

Me too Coach. I listened to most of the game as I drove around today on AM with my favorite play-by-play guys on. Shields hung tough against Kershaw. That Yankee castoff blew it with a combo of bad fielding and pitching. I'll give him a break for now and see what transpires down the road since we all know it isn't one game that makes or breaks you. Kemp is a great addition and showed why he gets the big bucks. Lots of games to play. 
Its going to be a very long season as a Phillie fan. 
Opening day, Shane Victorino is outstanding against us and Jimmy Rollins is stellar for the Dodgers. Cole Hamels may eventually end up with Boston, we'll see how it all plays out.
Thumbs up to Shane for giving his bat to a fallen Phila. police officer's son yesterday.
It seems that the Phils and Eagles have made some similar moves rebuilding the teams and moving money around.
Its going to be a very long season as a Phillie fan.

We got even last night and the team shows promise. Rollins killed us the day before, then booted a couple and gave it back. Shields is the goods! Struck out the side in the ninth. He has to take a page from Trevor and walk a guy or two to get the save count up.
edit: A. Gonzalez, a former Padre, took advantage of the squeezed strike zone by the ump and launched 3 dingers last night to go with 1 each in the first two games of the series. Never been done before in bb. Walk that sucker!
the last 2 games with the Giant and Padres was all pitching, Kimbrell was bringing the gas can last night
Always a great rivalry between the Giants and Padres. The matchups always have been about pitching between them but last night the lumber finally worked its way to the surface and the big bucks look to be earning dividends. Mad Bum got shelled and the rest of the Giant's staff were equally abused in a 20 hit pounding. For a fan used to seeing us on the receiving end of these shellackings it was a treat. I don't expect this every game but the potential is there now.
Little ball has been the game for too long. Kemp and co. are the goods.
Shields was ace and a post game prerecorded interview told why he decided to come here when management said, "The objective is to win now!"
Doormats and holding zone for talent moving on no more. This season is going to be FUN!

Funny how misery loves company. BUT low expectations has a silver lining - your Braves got off to an undefeated start and my Phils beat up the Nats 2 days in a row. I guess we should just enjoy the good times when they are happening.
maybe we can share the east cellar, or see who can stay out of it? Yeah, we'll just take turns beating up on the Mets. Good luck, I feel your pain.

Wow, 2 weeks in and the Indians and Giants are in their respective cellars, Hope it doesn't stay this way or it'll be a long season in the "Dawg House"!!! Well in the Giants case it is an odd numbered year and they have a huge target on their backs, not to mention they were the recipients of World Series rings Sat. evening.

I voted for Panik, Posey and Crawford on The Giants....my American team( The Yankees) were shut out.....I have a feeling if all them Royals get voted in, MLB will change the voting.....A-Rod will have made $375 million at the end of the year, what would Wiilie Mays have made?

Wow, Cubs whip the Indians 17-0.
The thing that struck me was Cleveland used NINE pitchers.
I looked it up because I thought that might be a record.
The record for a 9 inning game is actually 10 pitchers! That's mind boggling to me.
The record for any game appears to be 11...in a 17 inning marathon.
