Re: Joe on the Radio

We have our local classic rock station on at work all day, every day. I like the music, but its the same songs over and over and over. It would be great to here some Joe tunes mixed in now and then.

I've been trying not to think about the show, but its getting close now, so I guess its okay. I'm really looking forward to this one, I have meet & greet passes. I'm thinking of what I want to get signed, probably the back of the headstock on my JB LP.

Hence the reason I don't listen to most radio anymore, and classic rock stations in particular.  I like rock, and blues-rock specifically, but I'm so incredibly tired of hearing the same old songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s over and over and over again as you say, without anything new mixed in, that I can't stomach classic rock stations anymore.

I agree. It's the same 40 songs over and over and over. I find myself listening to jazz or country just so I don't have to listen to the same old crap.

Yep.  On the rare occasions I do listen, like when I don't have my iPod with me in the car, lately it's been classical, sometimes country, and only rock if I don't mind hearing a moldy oldie or two.

its like that in the UK.most radio here plays modern chart garbage, but when you get older rock type stuff its always the same predictable hits.I heard steppenwolf a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I heard the name I knew it would be born to be wild.its the same with all the bands.its like dj's don't know any other songs by bands apart from their hits/hit.

Re: Joe on the Radio

I'm like most of you. I got tired of hearing the same old thing so I started my own station.  Sure, I've got some of the same stuff but I also have stuff that you don't always hear.

I'm happy to post a list of stations that play Joe on the Live365.com network if you guys want. It's free to listen. There are tons of stations and you might find a classic rock station that has a broader playlist than the commercial ones.

Getting back to Joe though, there are currently 57 stations that have Joe in their playlists on the Live365.com network.  Most play one or two songs and are blues stations but there are a couple of classic rock stations (like mine) and an alternative station.

I feel a bit guilty in doing this but here is the list of songs I've got in rotation right now.  I usually change out Joe's songs every few months or so.  If my listeners tend to a like a particular song it stays in longer.

Miss You, Hate You (Full Length Version)
Mountain Time (Live-Beacon Theatre)
Different Shades of Blue
Never Give All Your Heart
Driving Towards the Daylight
Black Lung Heartache
Dirt In My Pocket
Lonesome Road Blues
Tea for One

On top of that I've got three Black Country Communion songs in rotation as well.  So yes, you'll hear some of the usual classic rock songs on my station, some stuff you probably haven't heard in ages but I support Joe as best I can.

As I said, if you guys would list a list of stations that play Joe on the Live365 network let me know.  I'm happy to share.

Re: Joe on the Radio

If I was a DJ, I'd definitely be playing Joe on the radio!! I recently sent an email to the president of clear channel saying that they should start playing more varieties of rock music on the local classic rock station here in Dallas. They also need to bring back 2 for Tuesday(2 songs from each artist), Rock Block Weekend(up to 6 songs from everyone), Play some live versions of more tunes as well, and maybe even play albums from start to finish from time time. I haven't got a reply yet.

Re: Joe on the Radio

Our classic rock station in Maine-WBLM- has a blues show 6am-9am(est) called Maine Blues Project. I have heard Joe several times on this show and while it's not prime time at least it's a start. The last song I heard them play was Black Night so that was very cool!!

Dont need a helmet to get me through life-walk across the water blame it on foolish pride.

I am lucky enough to hear WGLT pounding out blues every weekend directly from the campus of Illinois State University on 89.1 FM.  Good news is you can hear it too, via the online stream below!  Jon Norton frequently has Joe in the lineup!  You can also place requests during the weekends by calling directly to the station at 309-438-8910.  They love to hear from folks all over the world.

Re: Joe on the Radio

Thanks for the love Jelly Roll.  We play a LOT of Joe's music on GLT Blues Radio. And you can listen 24/7, not just weekends.  Hoping to see Joe 'round here in Central Illinois sometime soon.

Re: Joe on the Radio

Well, not just the radio . There I am, sat and just just about to check the forum when the sound of Joe singing 'Stop' from RAH comes out of the tv. This is the main tv channel BBC1 no less, straight after the morning news. It was a part of an advertisement for music variety on Radio 2 with the word BLUES prominently displayed. A nice surprise to say the least. I would normally miss it but thanks to half term am at home for once. cool
