Re: Houston.. err Stafford Show

Personal Opinion here + PBR:  Bridge to Better Days=Best Opener.  Woke up Draming=please always stay in the setlist.

Re: Houston.. err Stafford Show

I've not seen Joe open with BTBD and even though it's one of my favourite songs, I think the opening I'm used to hearing such as on Rockpalast with Takin' the Hit is awesome (we must find a different word for this as I seem to use it every time I speak of Joe). The excitement of Joe appearing, a few hair raising guitar sounds and then launching into the magic riff. The tension, the release. It don't get no better.................until next time smile
Looking forward to February already !!

I know it's a long shot, but if anyone recorded the concert, we'd really appreciate it in the torrent thread. smile

Oh InorgnicMatter.
You gotta change your captions.
Musicians of the quality of all the guys Joe plays with aren't better or worse than each other - just different. Embrace and enjoy them all.
Some great pix though smile
Looks like the family went. Cool !!

Re: Houston.. err Stafford Show

That's a good point Rocket and frankly I feel it's time to air my opinion in regards to this matter. Joe is a phenomenal talent and entertainer. He has chosen this as his career path and career = business. If the powers that be, surrounding Joe and his business decisions thought that Kenny & Eric were the best fit from a business stand point they would still be the band today. This is strictly my opinion as I have never discussed this situation with Joe personally nor do I want to. My encounters with Joe are usually spent finding out what's next and is there anything I can do to lend a hand since yesterday is gone and nobody is gonna change that. Rivercat, I welcome all counterpoints, If we all agreed on everything there wouldn't be a need for this forum. If you feel  a spiteful retort is necessary, well bring it on!, but after what I've been through in the last 3 months you would need a semi-trailer load to even phase me, and remember anything derogatory about the niners I feed off of.

Re: Houston.. err Stafford Show

im not tsaying one line up of bass players/drummers was better than the other, but saying the new ones are way better is just ludicrous.  i understand you like the new ones and want to support them, that is fine, just do it without selling the old ones short.  and i really dont see how you could have gottten they were bad on the rockpalast dvd they were tight as hell on there.

on an unrelated matter, do any long time joe fans know how often he makes setlist changes.  it is just that i saw him in indianapolis and davenport last month, and in one month ill be seeing him in chicago.  now that is two months and him coming right back to the same general area so i have kind of just been assuming there would be some changes, but it looks like maybe ive been wrong.  i know no one can tell me for sure whether it will be the same set or not, but can anyone say in the past, when joe plays in a location geographically similar to a spot he played much earlier in the tour does he change it up at all?  thanks

Re: Houston.. err Stafford Show

we saw the stafford show , and it was GREAT. Its the 4th time I've seen Joe and it keeps getting better. Joe is probably the best blues player I've ever heard, and I used to live in New Orleans and I have heard some good ones. I still think the best shoiw yet was the set he played at the Lake Austin Blues festival...It was an all acoustical set and at one point he had Monte Montgomery on to duet with him on Woke up dreaming

Re: Houston.. err Stafford Show

I'll just stick to my original post and opinion.

But I would like to know if Rivercat has seen Kenny 14 times with JB or with someone else.

Re: Houston.. err Stafford Show

I recorded the show and apart from a little giggling of the camera
now and then, it came out pretty good for a home movie.   I have
no idea how to post any of it to a website.   If someone wants to
do it I can send them the DVD if they will post it for the fans here.
Send me a PM or an e-mail.
