Re: Henrik Freischlader Farewell Tour (?)

Sad news indeed, Kenny. The good news he's not retiring permamently, so let's hope we may see him back on these shores in a new band.

Anyone want to buy a nice green House in the Woods t shirt? Only worn once. smile

Simon McBride in my interview with him in Blues Matters! Issue #56

Re: Henrik Freischlader Farewell Tour (?)

Hopefully Phil but he might just stick to producing and playing on other artists albums like Layla Zoe who incidentally I will see in Edinburgh in July smile

Re: Henrik Freischlader Farewell Tour (?)

See him tomorrow at the KUBA Festival in Hamminkeln. Great artist, great band. Then this fall the last shows. Metropool in Hengelo will be his last show for me with the current band. Sad,
but he will start something new in the future for sure.

Re: Henrik Freischlader Farewell Tour (?)

Didn't realize he was taking a hiatus. He has been busy he last few years.Joe like it seems.Solibalbumns every year and working with Layla Zoe.
Hope it's just a brief rest and he stays in the blues/ rock world.Ondont honk he has reached his full potential yet.

Re: Henrik Freischlader Farewell Tour (?)

Indeed very sad news. I'm going to see him a few times this year in Belgium and The Netherlands. Great lost for the music .

Re: Henrik Freischlader Farewell Tour (?)

Flights and hotels booked today for Oss and Hengelo, 17th/18th October. Gordon (GGM1903) and Graham1903 will also be making the trip.

Re: Henrik Freischlader Farewell Tour (?)

I can't imagine it's a true Farewell Tour. He's too good to stop sharing his talents. I'll await the next project wink

Re: Henrik Freischlader Farewell Tour (?)

Are there signs that it starts to get boring at home ???

Last week Henrik Freischlader unexpectedly showed up at a gig of Ryan McGarvey in a small club in Werdohl … what a jam that was !!! They played Superstition plus another song. Legendary.

Next week on 28 May Henrik will show up at a gig of Mike Andersen and band @ Piano in Dortmund. In an interview and acoustic radio concert of Mike Andersen it was announced today that Mike will have a special guest: Henrik Freischlader.  They will play a few tribute songs for the great B. B. King together.
In the interview Mike told us that B. B. King had great influence on him as a musician and that he had the honor to open 3 times for B. B. King and that he met him once and was so impressed that he nearly get a word out, dedicated him an album …
And if I'm not totally wrong, a few years ago Henrik bought a front row ticket for a show of B.B. King and then he was invited to open the concert.
So far I had 4 entries in my calendar on 28 May: The Muggs, Josh Smith, Big Daddy Wilson and Mike Andersen. Now I know that I'll be @ Piano in Dortmund for Mike Andersen plus special guest big_smile

Wow, that sounds like a gig and a half. Envious!
Nice to hear Henrik is back, even in a limited role.

South Durham "The Steelies" WMC; Hartlepool - 5th May 2023

As they say, "Never say never": after a long gap (especially in these parts), Henrik is back. Well done Sir Thomas de Wormald for hosting such a happening; there's been some great music in the 'pool, and this is surely up there...

What a great night; long time coming but was tempted down to Hartlepool for the first time in 3 years. Why? Well, for the 1st time in 10 years, Henrik Feischlander and his band were swinging by the region, and this was the nearest show.

Were they worth it? Well, as they might say back on his home ground - "Bist du verrückt; Sie waren mehr als fantastisch." In a split-set that saw the band deliver a set that totalled just over 2 hours, we were treated to some of the best contemporary Blues guitar I have heard in a long while. As you'd expect, Henrik plays with a Teutonic attention to detail in his solos, which are perfectly constructed,  but he adds an extra ingredient, passion: the solos soar, heavenward, like love-sick angels. Not only, but the incredible band behind him, so tight, so skilled and generously given their time to shine, not once, but twice. If there is a highlight, other than the spellbinding guitar, it's the interplay between Henrick and the keyboard wizard Moritz Fuhrhop; not only matching the solos, but working together in a way I haven't seen since Matt Schofield & Jonny Henderson. Did some of the instrumental passages last 10 minutes plus? Probably, I don't care, I really felt I was being transported elsewhere.

What a show!!! Here's hoping it won't be 10 years before this band passes through again; though it will probably seem like it. If you have a chance for what's left of this tour - TAKE IT.....

Re: Henrik Freischlader Farewell Tour (?)

Has to be 10 years between catching Henrik. Last time, he wowed everyone with his take on The Messiah Will Come Again;
this time it was his take on The Sky Is Crying.. Hope I don't have to wait another 10 years.....

Can only see dates in Spain, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria & Hungary for the rest of the year, but I'll keep an eye out.
