Topic: Miss You/Hate You acoustic

I was just listening to a great recording from 3/24/06 Huntington, NY where Joe did a wonderful acoustic version of "Miss You Hate You" and I was thinking about how cool it would be if Joe could reprise this for the fall tour. On this spring tour it's been really nice how he has changed things up a bit from last fall with switching in "Dislocated Boy", "Driving Towards the Daylight" and now "Happier Times" and I am just sort of sitting here wondering what might be in store for the fall since I know he'll still be doing the acoustic set. I could really see a nice version of "Miss You Hate You" with the background violin of Gerry, a pretty piano solo by Derek in the middle. Not sure what others think, but just kind of voicing my thoughts.

PS: that recording also had a really cool "New Day Yesterday" into "Spoonful" which also got me thinking about how cool it would be for Joe to do "Spoonful" at the Red Rocks show wink

Re: Miss You/Hate You acoustic

I love how he has switched up the set, although I didn't get to hear blues deluxe or happier times live yet. But, i'm sure if he is keeping them in the setlist then I will eventually! Personally Miss you Hate you has never been one of my favorite songs. I do like the idea of reprising old songs he used to do and throwing a couple back into the setlist though! I would love to hear him play Stop! again or So Many Roads! Cool idea Natasha!

Stop and So Many Roads are two of my favorites, I would love to hear them live.

Re: Miss You/Hate You acoustic

It's funny Erin, "Miss You Hate You" is not one of my favorites electric either, but acoustic it sounded so different. It is more melancholy done acoustically. Now "So Many Roads" would be fantastic, but I haven't heard him do that one acoustic. Certainly doesn't mean he couldn't. We all know Joe is certainly capable smile Not sure if Happier Times had been done acoustic before. Whereas Dislocated Boy and Driving Towards the Daylight were done during the small acoustic tour in Europe.

Re: Miss You/Hate You acoustic

Miss You, Hate You has always been one of my favorite Joe songs.  Have heard it LIVE in the earlier days and most recently at The Borderline in London.  Acoustic or electric, pattyluvsjoe loves this song either way!  wink

P.S.  I think I have told this story before on Joe, but one time at The Grand Emporium (tiny bar with a very low slung stage, so low that we could have turned the knobs on his guitar for him) in Kansas City, Joe was doing Miss You, Hate You and got the lyrics a little scrambled up....we thought okay he's just changing it up....until he stopped the song and said, "Now I know, that you all know that I f***** that up!"   lol  lol  lol  lol

"I'm not nice to any guitar!"      lol

this is funny Patty! I have never heard that story before. You'd think he would forget lyrics eventually considering he sings so many different songs all the time! I can only imagine how cool it was to see him in such a small intimate venue!
