Topic: Why not NYC

Hello all,

i am brand new in this forum, relatively new (1 year) as a major fan of JB and look forward to all
your replies to my posts. This post I would like to pose the question, why isn't JB playing New York
City in 2014? The closest venue, Count Baise in Red Bank, NJ is not easily accessible to us in NYC, is
small and sold out fast. I think its great that Joe likes to play intimate venues but with his fast growing
popularity I think he needs to consider larger venues or several shows in big cities. I realize he appeared
at the Beacon Theater a year or so ago but I was hoping 2014 would include NYC again. I think Radio
City Music Hall is a great fit for JB. It is big enough to allow many of us fans to go see him but still a relatively
intimate venue. In fact, I would suggest 2 or 3 dates there which I believe he can sell out. I have really enjoyed
listening to him more and more overt he past year and watching some of his live shows that pop up on TV. It
would be great to see him in person but with nothing scheduled in NYC, us New Yorkers are a bit disappointed.

Re: Why not NYC

Joe does not go to the same cities (and sometimes states) each year.  So hit the road or get ready for NY next year.

Gibson 60th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Reissue, Gibson LP Standard Faded CSB, Gibson Gary Moore LP Standard, Epi Joe Bonamassa GT LP, Epi Zakk Wylde LP, Dean Michael Schenker Flying V, Jackson Randy Rhoads V, ESP/LTD George Lynch Kamikaze, EVH Striped Series R/B/W, Fender/Squire John 5 Telecaster, Fender Joe Strummer Relic Telecaster

Re: Why not NYC

I'm guessing it's the same reason he's not playing in Chicago in 2014.
I made the 5 hour drive to Des Moines.

Re: Why not NYC

If you really, really want or need to see Joe live you might need to travel a bit to do so, even if you live in a large city. I think one of the main reasons for Joe's popularity is the fact that he still plays those smaller cities throughout the country and doesn't just hit the 10 or 20 largest markets with each tour.

BTW, rumor has it that Joe will be playing Radio City Music Hall next year.

Re: Why not NYC

I traveled 6 hours to Louisville, KY in November from Chicago to see him. I think what dknight says and that Joe doesn't play the same cities twice in one tour! I'm sure NYC is coming up soon

Re: Why not NYC

It's about past of projected ticket sales, attendances, performance critiques, travel logistics, calendar projections, and............MORE!  I don't think an answer must be provided.  Join the guessing games we all play here.  It's not a natural (or unnatural) pastime here, but if you feel like reading  (it is a skill) Joe Bonamassa's Forum and wish to...; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf16YtSOaUQ  My guess is that Chicago and New York seemingly are essentially moving on to a biennial rotation.  The TOUR rivulets of branching tributaries STILL are forking to charted but unexplored (in addition to other places hoping for "a" revisiting their territories of the planet, foreign and domestic.

Open to another another opinion?! Not to be either forgotten or ignored, it's time for the clamoring folks in the BIG island-Australia cool, who have apparently preempted the preeminent city, to score (VERY HARD FOR Aussies themselves to negotiate attendance!!!) https://forum.jbonamassa.com/viewtopic.php?id=26407big_smile Comes to tours, you can't go there without forgettin' somewhereneutral

Re: Why not NYC

As much as I loved The Beacon run last year I'm quite happy having a show near me (Red Bank tomorrow).  In fact when I mentioned where I loved when I met Joe in Cleveland last November I can guess where he'll be dining before.

Re: Why not NYC

Hope that rumor is correct and for more than one night.

Re: Why not NYC

My gut feeling (i.e., no foreknowledge) is don't count on it.  Multiple shows, not a RCMH appearance.  More...that would be good.

Re: Why not NYC

Perhaps you are correct about multiple dates. I would just like to see a few area dates just to get one pair of tickets without having to mortgage my home buying from Stub Hub or some other ripoff source. I just hope when the time comes I get through on the computer before they sell out. As a relative JB newbie, I am amazed at his talent and no matter what he plays sounds great. I can only imagine how great seeing him live would be.

Re: Why not NYC

I think in an interview in nashville he said radio city in 2015

Re: Why not NYC

Radio City is owned by the same people as the Beacon (MSG). Which will be good for me as they sell disabled tickets

Not a rumor according to Joe in this interview with Epiphone while he was in Nashville a few weeks ago smile Really exciting would love to go hopefully it would be Fall 2015, after Red Rocks, a fall show in Cincinnati and the KTBA cruise my savings will not have recovered by the Spring Tour I'm afraid!

Re: Why not NYC

Sometimes the tour schedule just doesn't allow a stop in a particular city or venue. The venue may already be booked for a different act. Dates are left open in the tour schedule just in case. Joe already has a very busy year ahead!

Keep a eye on the marketplace section here. Sometimes you'll find tickets for sale for a show near you.

Not sure of NYC per se, but most venues seem to always have some available.  Not sure of the "quality," except in a few cases I have accompanied someone in need of them, but I always suggest one always check, even if not advertised, some might be available.  Glad to hear you will be well accommodated, bump!
