Topic: are JB shows family friendly?

Hi,
I would imagine that JB shows are pretty clean but I was thinking of bringing my son to a show this fall.  Are the shows fairly free of language, etc?

He is 11 by the way.

Thanks!

Re: are JB shows family friendly?

Welcome to the forum.  Yes, family friendly, it's fairly "free" of language. Joe has been known to drop an F-bomb during "story time" about 2-3 songs into the electric set.    You can always take "lobby" break during this time if this might be a problem.

Absolutely take him!  What an experience to get!!!!  The little bit that Joe might let fly is probably miniscule to what kids hear in school, hanging with friends, at the mall, movies, videos, etc.....
I can't imagine that you would need to leave your seats at all!  My vote is take him if he is wanting to go!

Totally agree with Patty!! The show I went to I saw kids around the ages of 5 in the pit with their parents! They had earplugs in, but Joe keeps it light for the most part! I think it would be an awesome experience for your son! smile

Hi there! Welcome to the forum, by the way. They definitely are family friendly and it's always great to see families at the shows with young children. Gotta get them hooked early! smile

Re: are JB shows family friendly?

Yes, but depending on your seats and the venue, you may want earplugs.  Might want them anyways, just in case.  It's not Yngwie loud, but still...

Re: are JB shows family friendly?

Wow!! Thanks for all of the warm welcomes and quick replies.  I am going definitely going to take my two sons in December when Joe comes to town.  I can't wait!!  Thanks again everyone.

Re: are JB shows family friendly?

In my opinion every kid in America should hear The "F" Word with or without parental involvement and/or parental approval. big_smile
Yup, I'm serious.  Persons born and raised in the vicinity of the Onondaga Escarpment are colorful people with wonderful storytelling traditions, domestic and imported.  wink  Soooooooooo, expect children's ears (presuming roll , they haven't had introductory noun and verb interchangeability lessons with the basic 7 seven already...at home, cough, cough) to be indoctrinated.  It's for their own good.  However, ancillary lecturing may be needed if one's young are not familiar with the most basic American Interational Sign Language, the rude it meant tarry Middle F Note!  May it please parental units, Joe Bonamassa may have the digit protruding, indeed, quite provocatively.  Raise no alarm, it is just a strumming hand technique Joe Bonamassa has oft used to display some of the ferociously fastest stunning strumming and wildy exciting acrobatics.  No first row/barrier patron has ever been injured by his application, unexpectedly or otherwise, nor suffered brain damage or hair loss.

Joe may, however, actually being giving "The Finger" to his guitar, no matter how much he paid for it or how far it has traveled faithful and true with him... * :w

I hope I have been nominally helpful.  Have a great time! smile

Welcome to Bonametal smile And Wendletate, welcome to the forum.  Joe tries to keep everything Family friendly and LOVES seeing young ones at the shows. I also stress the need for earplugs. We want them to become fans for life. BTW, the pre-sales started today. Check the sticky.

Re: are JB shows family friendly?

my daughter was 9 and son 10 when they first saw Joe live, - they loved it.

Seeing and hearing musicians at the top of their game is so valuable to a child’s development and engagement and appreciation of real music. Sadly we live in a society where the over importance of image and celebrity for celebrity’s sake is more important than musical ability and effort, - but that is part of the negative effect of the music industry now being controlled by a few massive corporations who do not care about its future.

Advice is to check with the venue on their terms and conditions to see if they have any minimum age restricts, - I am fuming at the moment that Gov’t Mule management have booked them to play their only 2 UK dates in a venue called Brooklyn Bowl (USA company I believe) who will not allow under 18’s in to see live music. After speaking with them I established that they have the opinion that music played after 7pm is not suitable for anybody under 18 (21 in the USA according to their website). This to me is an appalling policy.

My YouTube channel with plenty of my Joe's videos dating from 2009 inc his first Hammersmith Odeon ones:

Re: are JB shows family friendly?

His shows are full of expletive driven rants, cussing, bawdy tales and obscene gestures enough to make a sailor blush.... NO WAIT - That was Billy Connolly !!! lol

Took my 8 year old son to see Joe once.  Not a problem.  I had earplugs for him, but even where we were on the 3rd row, the sound was not too loud and we didn't use them.

Re: are JB shows family friendly?

The shows are clean, no problem. There's a strippers show after the gig, so get out fast.

Haha, just kidding!
